By my lights it seems pretty politically and personally remarkable she did this interview minutes after injecting herself on camera as part of an egg-freezing process that she’s sharing publicly and educating people about—a position that’s very interestingly both vulnerable and forward-leaning
AOC: Millennials are not punk kids anymore. We're grown adults with mortgages and kids, and that generation is starting to be decisive at the polls. And there is anger at being ignored, having our economic futures mortgaged by the generations that came before us and we're taking the reins
The ocean has absorbed more than 90% of the heat from global warming. Is anyone surprised that ocean temperatures are higher than ever recorded?
World’s seas have hit hottest temperature on record for July, say scientists
Average sea surface temperature outside polar regions was highest on record for July, beating previous high in 2023

Do you have any idea how exhausting all this is for people with chronic illnesses or food allergies or disabilities that meant they needed reliable, pre-packed food, more easily on hand, day-to-day? Because lemme tell you, it's FUCKING EXHAUSTING.

I often think of the letter Eisenhower wrote in case D-Day went wrong in which he explicitly stated all blame would be his alone. Just an entirely different caliber of person
“he was confronted by Trump over the bare weapons stockpile, Hegseth defended himself & blamed his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, for the shortages & for not ensuring Trump was fully apprised of the issue” Throwing underlinings under the bus for your own incompetence will go over well in the military.🙄
I imagine there were Victorians who said “we can’t afford sewers”, knowing that deaths from poor sanitation happened mostly to people they didn’t know. This is much more serious, of course.

Exacerbated environmental racism is one of the major very real harms of data centers, and something that people who've been studying & discussing this for over a decade have long pointed out. It gets put in communities already most disproportionately harmed by pollution like emissions & waste heat.
“This is very real redlining…It is appropriating rural, Black-owned land and converting it for industrial purposes, and it’s being done by people who have no historical or cultural tie to the land. These are not people who are local, developing their land for industrial use.”
We might also consider how this is part of a history of non-white folks being forced to bear the costs of American "advancement" and "progress," and even when the environmental costs are recognized, non-white folks are typically not the beneficiaries of solutions.

I don't want email summaries I don't want youtube video summaries I don't want search summaries I don't want anything made by a water-guzzling liar and thief with no mind, soul, or bigger purpose other than making everything around me worse, uglier and warmer. No amount of pop ups will convince me!
I guarantee that if you got three random dogs in a room and tried to get them to wear headphones for 90 seconds you would end up with something genuinely funny and not awful like this
New dispatch from Hell:
Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.
Does The New York Times reporter in Washington D.C. not understand that fighting Steelers fans at a Browns game will flip you thousands of votes in Ohio? That is not a campaign liability, unlike slamming your ex-wife against a wall, pouring hot water on her head, and drawing a gun at her!
"doesn't understand the appeal of patina" feels like neat summation of American aesthetics
May Poseidon judge Zuck for this breach of the Pact of the Sea. May his boat be denied safe harbor. May the Kraken claim that which he holds dear.
I’m on a small-ship Alaska cruise with my son; our boat rescued a stranded vessel last night and apparently we did that after the Coast Guard radioed Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht - which was closer - and they repeatedly refused to respond. (There was near unanimous booing when the captain announced this)
