A stranger stopped me in the centre of Kyiv and invited me to a bell-ringing and carillon performance at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery. I followed her. The full letter is for paid members www.patreon.com/strategywoma...

Just heard my page has been moderated. I have sold a couple of Mike's belongings to help with costs as well. I can't believe it's four months since he died, seems like yesterday and forever. 😢💔 givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-p...

The Daily Blog has secretly been taken to court and Martyn Bradbury is facing six months in prison. They are not allowed to reveal who is behind it, how they’re doing it, or why they’re doing it. Seems very strange. #nzpol #slapps

As always, some stunning quilts on display at The Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. Congratulations to Silent Eyes by Sung Yeon Park which won Best in Show and was truly the most incredible quilt I saw. It's absolutely stunning. #FOQ2026
Me and my mum took a trip to the #FestivalOfQuilts yesterday and a day really isn't enough time to do justice to all the great art on display as well as doing the rounds of the exhibitors and shopping. These are a few of the quilts that caught my eye and there's […] [Original post on social.lol]
Mōrena! We're Ngaire and Lefty, a pair of pūtangitangi running an unofficial campaign for Bird of the Year 2026 🦆. Lefty has an injured leg, and some nice humans have been feeding us every day to help his recovery ♥️.
I learned a lovely thing yesterday: a group of brittle stars (either fossilised or dancing very slowly in a Devon rockpool) is called …a galaxy:
I'm off on an adventure soon, so sending some photos off my laptop to free up some space into a removable storage. It might take a while, I've got 6 past adventures to transfer.
Took advantage of a break in the rain, and had a milo in the sun. Tūī are buzzing a Kerurū in the Kōwhai, (who is ignoring them). There are Pīwakawaka in the Kauri, and plenty of Tūī in the camelia bushes. Plenty of bird song. #tinyjoys
Nash said what they're all thinking out loud. That was his mistake. Misogyny is instead an acceptable practice, eg dumping pay equity claims to make budget. Or supporting an anti trans Bill to select committee. Or refusing to go forward w consent law reform & using it as an election "promise" #nzpol
A fungus photo a day: Hypholomas growing in a crack between the center and the bark of a cut tree stump, taken in spring 2024. #fungifriends #fungi #mycology #naturephotography
Been looking back at previous adventures with the urchins. We spent a while in San Francisco several years ago. One of the favourite activities was going up Mt Tam, and watching the fog roll into the bay. #travel
Well, it finally happened, took 6 years but someone irl asked me if I'd heard about the internet story about the guy who ordered a ton of rice
The duck who lives here must be absolutely fucking massive.
gotta say the whiplash of the reactions to Graham and then Neill are something else live your life in such a way that people mourn your passing and share stories of your kindness instead of laughing out of relief that you're no longer making things miserable for others
Sam Neill. Such sad news today. Loved him in Hunt for Red October. He inspired my son in Jurassic Park, & fantastic as Uncle Hec in Hunt for the Wilderpeople. His home made movies during Lockdown kept me sane. Deciding which films to watch this week as a tribute. What was your favourite Sam Neil?🇳🇿
Knowing their peril, I’ve searched up and down California for native bees Very specifically green native bees They seem so magical and distant to me, like a creature from some odd world I’ll never be able to find Until this summer… on native Lupine Green Small-Mason 📷🌿🐝
Dozens of Black-Veined White butterflies (Aporia crataeai) swarm a kayak by the Vagran River in the Ural Mountains of Russia. 🦋 The butterflies are attracted to the salt from human sweat on the kayaker's gear and clothing. This happens in early summer when these butterflies emerge. #butterfly
Made my vogels in a different toaster. Burnt it to smittereens. Even more than fashionably chargrilled. Got another 2 slices and turned the dial back a bit. Much better. House is full of toast smoke, so I am enjoying my lunch, in the sun, on the deck. #nzl 🇳🇿🍜
