If anybody wants to fund a prestige television show that starts with a bunch of knuckleheads making gaming magazines and websites and ends a few seasons later with a very conservative gaming industry and a side order of fascism, I’ve got some good ideas.

Oof. Bitter sweet revisiting this... the credits roll on 1UP is the size of three or four full outlets in today's games media landscape. This a video game podcast from twenty years ago. The industry has grown considerably since then. wtf.

The 1UP Show was one of the biggest influences in my media career and inspired me to create video content. Seeing how cool their office was and the creativity that oozed from each episode, they really raised the bar. What Casey Neistat did to vlogging they did to video games media.

I have no idea if The 1UP Show is actually the foundational text to modern games media that it always will feel like to me, but, man, what a great little thing that brought videogames out of darkened living rooms and message boards and into the light.

Also, we had a dumb idea for a sketch for @timoflegend.bsky.social‘s intro/outro. That he just ran with it and actually made it good was a sight to behold! Plus, it was very much to do all the “bad” graphics for it. Always wanted to try my hand at a local cable TV commercial 🤣
