I can't get over these writers complaining when their characters 'take over' and 'do things they didn't expect.' Shit. My characters are all clearly lazy m-fers. I WISH they'd do some of the work for me. I have to plot every damned thing myself.
This one deserves further exploration. The over-burdened colleague of the agent asked me to "show [him] what [I'm] working on." I shared an early draft of The Other Eight. It turns out "show me what you're working on" means something polished and marketable. Not, you know, what you're WORKING on.
Joseph R. Lallo@bookofdeacon.com · 2y agoNot one but two literary agencies tried to recruit me. I got to the cusp of signing with one of them when the agent moved on to do audio acquisitions for a publisher and I got dumped onto a colleague with no openings. He declined to represent me.
