I got through an entire workday without for the first 30 years of my professional writing career. And before that, I did about 10 or so years without a smartphone. So I think I’ll be OK.

Today, I am feeling insecure, inadequate, and unattractive. My confidence is low. I know some of that is my PTSD, which I’m addressing in therapy. I miss the bold confidence I had when I lived in SF. But here, I feel like I made myself small.

Jonesing for more Shatner? We were when we put on this Boris Karloff hosted 1961 murder mystery. Pretty by the numbers stuff with no real thrills despite the show’s title. But Shat does a great job, out performing the stage actors around him. Amazing how fully formed he is as an actor so early on.

It’s true I do. But during my recent rewatch of TNG season one, a great season btw, I like early Picard. Gruff, but quippy not yet as uptight and above his own humanity yet. Until “Symbosis” where it all goes wrong for me with him. It’d take until “Family” for me to somewhat warm up to him again.

I started getting followed by some "film festivals" and "writing festivals" and thought "oh, these are cool!" Then I looked a little closer. They're all part of a network that preys on writers, charging us for reviews, and feeding our stuff into slop generators. So I made a list.👋🏻🖕🏻😠

I cannot fathom using AI to write. I would spend more time editing it and trying to fix it than it takes to do it myself. It’s also absolute garbage at understanding nuance, voice, audience, etc. It legitimately decreases your authority as you don’t learn anything from the process.
