cognitive point of view. So, with all due respect, your framing is wrong: the question is not why we didn't debate about keeping schools open, but how we can reduce the spread of all airborne illness in school settings, on a permanent basis. See the amazing work of @safeairschoolsuk.bsky.social! /3
implementing measures in schools and universities that will reduce the chances of needing to close school if a new pandemic were to happen! See the amazing work by @safeairschoolsuk.bsky.social . I'm also disappointed to see that the backlash to Goodall's claims is being thought as /3
There had been 47 COVID-19 teacher deaths by *20 April 2020* COVID-19 and other viruses that can cause long-term harm and death are airborne. Clean air improves attendance, health, wellbeing, inclusion and achievement.
There are working class and vulnerable kids who will never have the life they should have had because of school closures. Let’s address that too, shall we?
They never measured the air. The filters were run at settings chosen for noise and comfort in communal rooms (low flow). They didn't even calculate room volumes — and no tracer, particle, or bioaerosol data confirms the intervention lowered airborne pathogen concentrations anywhere. 1/
Curious to hear what you think of this Kim @kprather.bsky.social ?
Our colleagues @mumsforlungs.bsky.social have launched a postcard campaign calling on PM Andy Burnham to back a Clean Air Act. Air pollution causes 30,000 deaths a year and is a major threat to children’s health. Use your voice to demand change. ➡️https://mumsforlungs.justpost.cards/ #CleanAir

🚨A mother in Manchester told us she could smell wildfire smoke while feeding her baby. The conversation turned to classroom air and how schools can protect children. DIY and commercial HEPA air cleaners provide effective air cleaning for 3p per child per school day.
New PM, Andy Burnham has the power to help. Our junior clean indoor air ambassador just sent him a postcard asking him to deliver clean air for us all. Will you? 👇 cleanairnow.mumsforlungs.justpost.cards?utm_medium=B...

Grateful for the opportunity on Monday to discuss classroom air quality and airborne allergens, pathogens and pollutants with Becky Gittins MP and colleague, following the Welsh Government’s response to our open letter from Cabinet Secretary for Education, Lynne Neagle MS. 1/2
Great to participate in 'Delivering a National Allergy Strategy: Next Steps for Allergy Care' last week in Parliament joining, Chris Bloore MP. The National Allergy Strategy recognises IAQ and gives practical steps to improve it including training and air filtration.
Artificial grass pitches can reach 50–70°C+ in hot weather. As temperatures rise, some studies suggest chemicals from rubber and plastic materials may be released more readily into the air. Concerns have been raised about exposure from 3G sports surfaces.

#CleanAirDay is a significant national movement and an important opportunity to highlight the new National Allergy Strategy, which recognises clean classroom air as essential for prevention and protection.
Countdown to #CleanAirDay Great to speak with @theiPaper.com about air quality and heat inside classrooms. Many schools see cooling as the more urgent challenge, and that’s understandable when pupils and staff are struggling in hot classrooms. 🧵1/6
Reducing #AirPollution improves #Health - something we've been saying for a long time. Want to see the evidence? A new study shows that London's T-charge and ULEZ led to a reduction in emergency admissions to hospitals. 💚
