We've finally managed to finish all of our mothy paperwork from our last trip to @sandwichbirdobs.bsky.social earlier this month. Across our week (& a bit) we recorded a sizeable 3429 moths of 249 species. So many highlights from so many great mothing nights. @linnetincley.bsky.social #cmoontheroad

Today we at SBBOT were very sad to hear that our President for half a century, Bill Oddie, has passed away. He supported us in so many ways across the years as we have grown and developed. We send our condolences to his family.
Last year at Sandwich Bay, there was a 2nd emergence of Scarce Blue-tailed Damsels in mid-July peaking at 12+ on 19th & 14+ on 30th. This year there've been no July sightings (I think) until today. Maybe the heat-wave is to blame🤔. It's certainly impacted the anisoptera which are noticeably scarce.
The highlight of todays walk was when two Spoonbills flew in on the incoming tide as I was heading home from #Pegwell. 🙂 📷🌤️💚👍#summer #wildlife #kentbirding

The Pectoral Sandpiper, dwarfed by juv Water Rails, still in 'South Scrape' one of the borrows created by the EA (design input from Bird Observatory) during creation of new Sea Defences. Also 4 Bearded Tits taking grit/seed off the mud & 29 Cattle Egrets.
