Regulated my jacked up nervous system with this last night. Céleste Boursier-Mougenot’s Clinamen at Park Avenue Armory, extended through August 9th.

Today is the day that Ray Bradbury set his short story “There Will Come Soft Rains.” It’s my favorite Bradbury work, and although it has a patina of age, its eerie message is more relevant than ever. This was the sci-fi future that the classics imagined. It’s not far off. 🚀📚 youtu.be/nmcURKn2sf8

Today, I am feeling the weight of everything. Life has been overwhelming for too long, and I am exhausted trying to even just live. But. Tomorrow is another day. Like I tell my kids, even if you're not moving forward right now, you at least need to be here for the first opportunity you can.

Goodnight wherever, whenever you are, my dearest friends. May the light of your spirit illuminate the way for others, and may theirs light the way for you if you need it. Sending you my love across the sky ❤️

Because I'm going to bed early, here's my list of small joys today: Sitting in front of the oscillating fan with eyes closed feeling like a small child again. The taste of plain, cold, water. Cutting watermelon. Having a day that moved at my own pace. Wearing a comfy, oversized t-shirt.

We're doing a full summer dinner with roasted corn and veggies, potato salad, and a big watermelon to be cut for dessert. Making meals at home with love and turning them into an event really does seem to make the food nourish you longer. In your soul, at least. I am grateful for this coming meal.

I had a bad dream that I packed too much for a vacation, and most of the dream was spent trying to repack all the things I brought. Though they somehow multiplied. Young Ralph Macchio was also there. 🤷🏻

Things that brought me joy today: The hanging pots & pans sounding like wind chimes when the fan blows on them. Family time. My youngest's big spirit & ❤️ Repairing my octopus spoon holder with Kintsugi, bc he's a part of this family. And, we don't throw away ppl just because of a few cracks.

I was thinking about raindrops today. They all have their own path. They are unique. Many end up together, but others have a different purpose. A different thing to nourish, or a different thing to become. But ultimately they do nourish the world with their short beautiful lives. How magical.

One of my favorite little acts of service is cutting fresh fruit and putting them in to go containers for people. Another is turning the shoes at the genkan, so they are easier to put on. I also like stopping the microwave before it beeps when people are sleeping. What are some of yours?

I know people don't care about alt text, but for the life of me, I can't understand why it is so difficult for people to take an extra minute to fill it out. It's such an easy way to make the world more accessible, and lord knows, we all need that one way or another. Sigh.

Of all the languages I study, I think ASL is my favorite and the quickest to learn. The most difficult for me has been Latin. I do believe a foreign language or ASL should be required learning in public education.
