Autistic, queer, polygender author and poet writing speculative fiction/poetry for adults & books/poetry for kids. No ICE. AI can't have my em dashes. Ask me about my garden. https://www.sarahgracetuttle.com/

🌈🚀💫Queer & trans* SFF poets: share your work pub'd this September! Drop the title/link for your recent poetry to be included in the monthly Queer Spec Poetry Roundup on Stardust & Verse! Originals & reprints welcome; feel free to interpret queer/trans* and speculative broadly. Shares appreciated!

When you're thinking about banned books this week, please also consider banned themes. There's so much soft censorship-- i.e. authors of color/queer folks getting low print runs/no marketing budgets. Proving that people still want to read at-risk topics and authors is part of fighting book bans too!

This remains one of my all-time favorite speculative fiction poems. I'm sure a lot of spiritual teachers wish they could deliver a call to repentance as directly to the moral jugular as this little mermaid poem.

My favorite work is my poem "The Mermaid Speaks of Social Justice from the Bathtub," a weird fantasy exploration of complicity in societal injustice published by @strangehorizons.bsky.social! You can read it here: strangehorizons.com/wordpress/po...

Writers, if you are against AI, do not put your writing into ANY tool that is itself AI. Not to check grammar, not to "prove" you wrote it yourself. Everything you give them becomes part of their data, even if it's only to "improve their service" or whatever BS they tell you.

Dear Hivemind-- lately, I'm really enjoying reading speculative poetry/flash fiction zines in print. What are your favorite speculative zines that publish at least some poetry/flash fic in each issue AND have a print subscription or purchase option? Please fill this thread with suggestions!

Some Queer Short SFF - June 2026 | Charles Payseur

Hi all! I’m still a mess in general but the show continues, this month with works from June—and there are quite a few, thanks in large part

In A Pulse Of Starlight by @sarahgracetuttle.bsky.social, the narrator's wife has always been different, always obsessed with space. The two go on a cruise beyond the asteroids and she leaves for her destiny - but that's not the end of the story.

I was walking my dog when I saw my wife for the first time, dancing on the grass in the park like it was an ancient meadow. There was no music—just the clink of her dangling moon earrings as she spun. I think I fell in love with her then, when all I knew of her was wild rhythm and the way she turned her face up to the sun.

She never hid herself from me. Our first morning together, she told me about the time before—when infinite space was filled with shimmering rainbows and delight. She said she was something else.

I gave her a kiss, and then another, and we never did eat breakfast that day.

This @gwenckatz.bsky.social story has Carly and Alexis as caretakers of the titular Drakelings - who may be young dragons or may just be needy, difficult creatures. A story of slippery history, of grant money, and of trying to get anything done while toddlers demand attention.
