ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.

ICE is surging in the Seattle area. (Map shows activity in the last week) Do you have your whistle with you?

#BookSky & #Romancelandia, help me gauge if there's any interest in these for @romancingthevote.com auction? 1st edition Dorchester Mass-Markets of my award-winning, bestselling STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL saga (Romantasy before it was cool). Book 2 was 1 of the first romances to have 2 genres on the spine!

I deeply regret reading this piece--but also feel compelled to point out that it contains this absolutely spectacular example of Both Sides-ing it. An NYT all-timer "influencers who are accused of human trafficking and rape" are "functionally equivalent" to feminists

"Heteropessimism isn’t just for women. Men like the white nationalist Nick Fuentes and the Tate brothers — influencers who are accused of human trafficking and rape — also promote a form of heteropessimism. Their basic argument is that women are not worth the time or are something to dominate and discard, that there is something wrong with them and men are better off alone. These manosphere figures are far less thoughtful and far more hateful in their wording than feminist heteropessimists, but their argument is functionally equivalent. Both groups argue that the other half is just bad. Give up, they tell us. Both are willing to let the cycle of loneliness and atomization continue."

Tom Suozzi is a traitor who crossed party lines to vote for $10 billion in ICE funding. He's advocated for compromise with Trump. He's a professional politician! Danielle Welch lives her values. A f-t public defender, she wants to Abolish ICE, Impeach Trump, and Save Democracy. Pitch in $ to help?

So, if you can, I am asking you to donate to my campaign. Today, because I have to make a decision soon. Tom Suozzi is doing real harm. People deserve to have a choice 6/23. I've put a lot into this campaign, and I want to keep fighting, but I can't do it alone. Please help if you can. 11/11

Holy wow, this lineup. I've attended a couple other one-day conferences organized by @roxanegay.bsky.social at Rutgers, and they have been excellent Hot tip: If you're heading to New Brunswick from NYC, a NJ Transit train will leave you a short walk from the building where this is held

On June 20th, Belonging: A Black Writers’ Convening will take place at Rutgers New Brunswick. It is co-sponsored by the Gloria Steinem Endowed Chair in blah blah blah (my day job) and The Rumpus.

I continue to think that "backlash politics" is the wrong frame. There has been a counter-revolution against the Black freedom movement for generations. It is a FRONTLASH and I think that not thinking of it this way has done a real disservice. It's been PERMANENT WAR.

In the past year alone, Jeff Bezos's net worth has increased by $75 billion. That’s $205,479,452 per day $8,561,643 per hour $142,694 per minute $2,378 per second The median American’s weekly earnings is $1,235 ($64,220/yr).

I am not being hyperbolic. Our insistence on segregating our histories, in encapsulating the struggle for voting/civil rights as a Black struggle and not an American one, has helped bring us to this moment. We did not have representative democracy until 1965. W/o the VRA, it is unlikely to survive.

We must understand that the Voting Rights Act was not merely about ensuring Black Americans rights, it was about democratizing America. This ruling is not just a decimation of Black rights and Black Americans’ ability to have representation, it is a fatal blow to multiracial democracy.

The attack on education in the US is not new, but the slow fuse that arguably started with Reagan is now setting off detonations across K-12 and higher education that are going to be incredibly difficult to walk back if we don’t treat this like the urgent crisis it is.

I've gone to @roxanegay.bsky.social's previous two Rutgers conferences, and they were both great. This will be her last writers' conference at the school as she completes her time as the Chair in Media, Culture and Feminist Studies. Attend if you can! PS. Go, Lady Knights! IYKYK

The trope that associates violent profiteering by elites and their henchmen with being “tough on crime” was pushed by both right wing and liberal media organizations for decades. It is one of the great achievements of modern propaganda to associate cruelty and domination and violence with “safety.”

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.

Fox News doc on lower fertility rate: "The problem is teens and young adults, from ages 15-19 the fertility rate is down 7%, and it's down 70% over the last two decades, meaning we're telling people that are young not have babies, to wait until they're in a more stable life situation"

you do not have to hand it to tucker carlson or marjorie taylor greene or alex jones or megyn kelly. they're all rats who see trump as a sinking ship and they're getting ready to jump in preparation for their next act. you do not have to fall for it.
