I miss being able to get a paper map when moving to a new town. They're so helpful for understanding where things are and how they're connected. I still need a GPS most of the time, but paper maps help me *understand* a place.

I had replied to the below: Paper maps are great. Never run out of juice, let you see the close-up detail and the big picture at the same time (because they're three feet wide, unlike your phone), and the more you use them the more you learn your way around without them, unlike obeying a machine.

I still think it's kind of amazing that it didn't occur to the Black Eyed Peas to make the radio friendly "Let's Get It Started" version of the song until almost a year after the album with the slur version came out.

what a surprise. again, he reacted like this when the Nazi tattoo was revealed! he wasn't contrite, there was no actual acceptance or suggestion of change, it was pure entitlement and anger. All of this should have been obvious.

I learned most of my vocab from reading books, so learning that some people think there shouldn't be novel words in books is very weird. I don't know what words you don't know. That is not my problem.

THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON HERE THAT WE CANNOT EXPLAIN. The economy is not in a recession. The economy is not worse than 2020 or 2008 or 1979. Whatever is happening here, it cannot be plausibly attributed to people’s real lived experiences. There is some other factor causing this collapse.

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get Excel to put a list of numbers in ascending order. And I'm only doing this because first I tried to get Excel to give me an accurate sum (or average) of those numbers and it failed miserably. Is this what I get for turning off Copilot? 🙄
