Carolers raise their voices in a Home Depot parking lot in song. Their message to stop deportations gets attention, hits hard, & gets support. If you are like me and can’t sing, join me in boycotting Home Depot & let them know helping ICE will cost them money. #WeAintBuyingIt

I finally watched this. The data and the tech are horrifying. @drtanksley.bsky.social’s research and pedagogy, however, are incredible — themselves a reminder of how GREAT great scholarship is. Just so, so good. Truly, everyone pls watch this — to learn about the bad and to be reminded of the good.

I need everyone, esp anyone working in education or tech (but really everyone) to WATCH THIS CLIP of @drtanksley.bsky.social discussing the technologies infiltrating our schools & psyches and how she is addressing it with our young people. youtu.be/5mtcSL4S3HQ

Sacha Judd's #ffconf talk was one full of nostalgia for me. Fandom was my first online community 💗 and it's such a rich subculture of the internet. Was fab hearing all about @archiveofourown.org and many other incarnations of online fandom spaces being talked about at a web conf! @ffconf.org

thank you #ffconf you are such a great crowd. here’s the text and slides to the talk (it’s a directors cut bc it has 20 mins more than the original version!) 1/2 www.sachajudd.com/the-good-int...

Surya Rose @gearsco.de gave a fab talk: Six to Sixteen: A Child's Programming Journey. Starting with rebuilding a childhood game with his father, then progressing to Minecraft data packs, YouTube channel, podcast and Open Source contributions. #ffconf @ffconf.org I'm gonna share with all kids I know

Asim Hussain linked Athenian Democracy to modern AI, disillusionment in politics and politicians, and how we might use AI to form a hive mind for our collective knowledge to improve the ways we organise our societies and make collective decisions. #ffconf @ffconf.org

Sergés Goma gave a funny and engaging talk about how You're in a Code Cult (and that's OK). We heard how cults function and how all of us are part of one! She pitted us against each other since she wants us angry 😡 not collaborating. 😁 What a fab talk. #ffconf @ffconf.org

Sergés Goma in front of a screen #1 question "What is the best JavaScript framework ever made?"

Actively mad about how great of a speaker Sergès Goma is on stage at #ffconf Funny, well researched, charming, beautiful slides, flawless delivery. 2026 conferences would be wise to snap her up for keynotes👀

Taking so many notes from Chetan Padia's talk Powerless By Design, the first half was super depressing and the second was empowering. 😍 chetbox.com Use tools that put privacy first, that use open standards & allow users to switch easily, then try them! Share your favourite ones with me! #ffconf

Hellen Ward started the day talking about Bias In Our Products. One reflection that I personally have as someone with an intersection of different minority groups in the UK is that diverse representation is good, but doesn't automatically lead to inclusive products. #ffconf

Diversity jn AI starts with who's involved in training and labelling the data. It's about who's in the room when the data is being built. You need cultural representation at the creation stage. If you don't consult the people with lived experiences then AI will miss them. Abran Maldonado

🟣 Speaker Announcement: Stephen Midgley AI Against The Odds: Building Tools for the Forgotten We're incredibly privileged to have Stephen join us to share his personal and incredibly inspiring story about how he used AI to support him and his mother during crisis.

I'm a skeptical user of AI tools. I see they accelerate a lot of existing issues in society, turbo charging them. I don't buy the Silicon Valley hype, but I do see folks around me use tools every day and LLMs being increasingly embedded in enterprise software.

Had a fantastic time at #AllDayHey @heypresents.com in Leeds. Ninth year it's been running and I finally got to attend! Was a real pleasure to give a talk here. I'm already looking forward to returning this time next year to see folks at the next one! Best part of events like this is the community.

Hey @heypresents.com attendees, if you're a CSS nerd, I'd love to get your view on a new CSS unit called 'pem' that me and some of the Chrome team are proposing at the CSSWG. We need your feedback on how it will work. Please come and find me if you're interested!

how to find the balance between not having unnecessary interactions to access information but also, not causing cognitive overload with too much information on the screen in one go. is it just about good spacing and visual hierarchy? #AllDayHey

What about technical complexity. Increased of making users click a button to access an address in a popover, why not just display the address? Users might not know they need to click the button to access the address. #AllDayHey
