"In Boise, the small but courageous flagpole gesture was felt earnestly. One Idahoan who stopped to admire the new display expressed just how important it was to see the city fighting back. "'I feel loved,' he told local news. 'I feel accepted by the people that matter. I feel hope.'”

1. Idaho banned the pride flag on government property. So Boise made the pride flag their official city flag, which allowed them to fly it. Then Idaho banned new city flags. So in response, Boise has now wrapped the poles themselves in rainbows! Subscribe to support our journalism.

The violation of privacy this testing implementation imposes is insurmountable. It basically lets the entire world know when a woman athlete has an intersex condition, even if she was unaware prior to testing. The last time this rule was in effect, it literally led to a suicide.

Olympic legends Megan Rapinoe, Sue Bird have denounced the Olympics trans athlete ban. They call out the mass testing regime that will be implemented on women and the harm it will cause. “Can we focus our resources into real problems women’s sports face?” Subscribe to support our journalism.

This would've made past-me, who was a Georgian during middle school, so happy. It makes present-me, who is exhausted from all the hateful bills getting passed elsewhere and desperately in need of a win, so happy too 👏

BREAKING: After a late night at the Capitol to finish out the 2026 legislative session, we could not be more excited to share that WE DID IT! We successfully defeated ALL of the nearly 15 pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation! Swipe to read our full statement:

A graphic with a group photo of LGBTQ+ advocates in front of the State Capitol's gold dome, holding signs that read "liberty and justice for all." In the top corner is the Georgia Equality logo and a header reading, "VICTORY UNDER THE GOLD DOME."

Text at the bottom reads, "BREAKING: Together, we successfully defeated all of the nearly 15 anti-LGBTQ bills this legislative session."

Today we remember the six million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust. On International Holocaust Remembrance Day and every day, we recommit to standing up against antisemitism and ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust are never forgotten.

2025 was *brutal*, in all those personal hard to explain ways I don’t really share online. It was also marbled with love and little moments of sweetness that made it survivable. I don’t know if I have the right to expect better in 2026, but I’m gonna look hard for the love

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.

I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

I went to bed last night thinking about the shooting at Brown University and woke up to the news about the shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia. This is a sick planet. George Carlin said it best: "Save the planet, we don't even know how to take care of ourselves yet."

At least 11 people were killed by gunmen who targeted a Jewish celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/12...

I thought when I wrote Ana on the Edge, we wouldn’t still be talking about trans folks’ place in sports half a decade later. Yet here we are. This is such a disappointing decision, to restrict those competing in women’s skating events by the sex on their original birth certificate.

This fucking sucks! I did find a place in this community and now I will be excluded from participating as myself. Really, really sad. The ice has been a place I go to clear my mind and that has been robbed from me.

Partial screenshot of an email from US Figure Skating detailing their new trans-exclusive category for women. The excerpted portion reads “Dear US Figure Skating members,

At US Figure Skating, we have long embraced a spirit of inclusion, offering diverse programs that allow each of our members to find their place within our community”
