It's a hummingbird hawk-moth summer! There's been lots of sightings of the distinctive moth, which hovers over flowers to feed like a hummingbird. It's thought that, amongst other things, hot weather and strong winds have driven their spread northwards. 📷️: David Humphries

Emmett Till was born right here in Chicago on July 25, 1941. And it is with deep humility and great pride that I signed legislation this week at Roberts Temple to declare his birthday as the Illinois Day of Reflection and Remembrance of Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley.

Lithops are plants that grow in Namibia and South Africa, and they resemble 'living stones' while growing in a stone-rich habitat. Their small size and remarkable camouflage prevents them getting eaten. They are succulent plants. If you grow them from seed you realise how variable they can be.
