The weird faith in gen AI's capabilities despite its being so obviously incapable in most situations is rattling. Just like with this physics researcher, people I've otherwise respected for their intelligence are falling for the AI grift. It wrecks critical thinking, and that's legitimately scary.

A lot of understandable negative response to this, but for the whole interview Schneider is always answering from the ATProto perspective. He's not really saying he wants MAGAs to use this social network bluesky dot app, he's saying he wants anyone to use ATProto to build their own.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm seeing a lot of posts talking about how Bluesky don't know what Bluesky is or they are threatening what's good here, but neither is expressed here. All I hear is talk about broadening a usership that might be hesitant, which is smart and what I'd expect.
