I'm glad some restaurants are stepping up to do what they can during the SNAP disruption and I hope they're actually prepared to treat all hungry people well, including people without access to showers or who are visibly mentally ill.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents. I did it because the government isn’t. This is what I found.

White words on a black background read: 50+ Immigration agents have the authority to detain whom they reasonably suspect are in the country illegally. We found more than 50 Americans who were held after agents questioned their citizenship. They were almost all Latino. ~130 Agents also can arrest citizens who allegedly interfered with or assaulted officers. We compiled cases of about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, accused of assaulting or impeding officers. ~20 Among the citizens detained are nearly 20 children, including two with cancer.

I think we should have this because I care about people, including currently and formerly incarcerated people, and think they should have healthcare. The extra thing that always gets me about this kind of public heath thing is that even if you only care about money, prevention saves money!

Why do Portland people like hosting events at Laurelhurst so much, the park itself is too hilly for many mobility disabled folks to navigate, the surrounding area is also super hilly so hard to bike there, and parking is usually difficult for people driving.

It sucks how security and accessibility can conflict - getting to a physical meeting space instead of online, not writing things down, leaving electronic devices at home but maybe that device is your voice (AAC) or connected to your insulin pump or you're at higher risk of a medical emergency or...

I'm frustrated by commentary on the SAVE act that a. Doesn't talk about trans people and b. Reinforces the sexist and heterosexist assumption that all women and only women who get married change their last names.

It's frustrating that some of my governmental public health colleagues are downplaying the impact of Trump's bullshit with "well we made it through his first term" a. A lot of people didn't b. This one is different, have you been paying attention to the EOs and the health agency websites going down

If you are using Signal, and you are doing something the government considers illegal, the way they are going to read your messages about it is they'll arrest the person you sent the messages *to* and make them show the logs. We see this technique appear repeatedly in "Jan. 6" court filings.

With all of the Executive Orders affecting federal institutions, I'm thinking about the intersectionality of who has to interact with the federal government to get their needs met, including disabled folks on SSDI or SSI and Native folks who get healthcare from the IHS.
