The Springfield Ohio bullshit is like, the most pronounced and clear cut example of American moral rot I’ve seen in forever. Literally asking Haitians to come to revitalize your hollowed-out community, and then subjecting them to this racial terror and humiliation after they do? Fucking hell

Dolly Parton was they type of Christian that Christian Nationalists only *pretend* to be. Unlike Christian Nationalists, she didn't browbeat us with how CHRISTIAN she was. She just lived her life doing things that Jesus asked her to do, like heal the sick, help the children, and care for the poor.

I vaguely recall that when AOC barely, briefly stumbled in a way less problematic fashion about a question on Taiwan... the media made a huge story about it for weeks, with the GOP egging it on. Now it's "why ask an elected official about Taiwan, that's silly."

NEWSMAX: What is your confidence level in Darline Graham when it comes to national security? REP. TIMMONS: Darline knows what it's like going through food line checkout. This is silly for us to talk about Taiwan. The position is very simple -- she needs to support the president

Trump reported 1,051 trades in his June disclosure. These two stood out: — June 18: Bought $250K–$500K in Boeing, the same day the Navy awarded Boeing an $880 million contract — June 23: Bought $15K–$50K in SpaceX, the same day NASA recorded a $425.6 million award to SpaceX

Mamdani is succeeding in part by projecting joy Ossoff is succeeding in part by projecting steely ferocity We’re in a moment when attitude is nearly as powerful as ideology, because we all need courage. And these are two ways of summoning it

"Originalists" like Sam Alito have discovered secrets that eluded historians for centuries, like "the founders wanted the president to be king" and "corporations have free speech rights" and "unlimited gun ownership is a personal right" and so many other ludicrous lies about the past.

The convergence is no coincidence. These “arguments” are the same self-serving, disingenuous twaddle, coming from the same place: hacks who serve capital. It's time we recognised them for what they are. Politics is downstream from profit.

He's losing words. Anyone with a parent or loved one suffering from dementia will recognize this pattern. Wen he says "moving cameras," it's because he can't recall the word "videos" and so he's stating the component parts as best he can. E.g., a "camera" is involved and the images are "moving"

Trump: "We have photographs or tapes -- like moving cameras, right? -- where people are on the side cutting it with a box knife."

This is a story about the President and several of his hand-picked appointees all committing crimes and blatantly lying to the public while stealing public funds and abusing the criminal justice system, but the NYTimes describes the situation like they're recapping a soap opera.

Another example of the problem with the fixation with Trump’s putative emotions: here a story about the Trump administration’s corruption, incompetence, and venality is framed as one about Trump’s “wrath.” www.nytimes.com/2026/08/01/u...

Let’s not forget that this illegal Reflecting Pool indictment was also overseen by Todd Blanche. He could have stopped this at any time, but he was a corrupt and willing accomplice to this fraud upon the court. How can any decent person possibly vote for this man as AG?

Settting aside the racism and xenophobia, it's also massively counterproductive: getting foreign students to stay here and work is a win for the US and for the graduates. Every degree a US school awards to a foreign student should have a work visa & permanent resident application stapled to it.

This is disgusting, xenophobic, bigoted, greedy, cruel, short-sighted bullshit: harm for harm's sale. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Have you noticed the tributes to Lindsey Graham don't cite any actual legislative accomplishments that benefited his constituents? It's a lot of "he was a strong voice" & "got along with everyone"- generic stuff you could say about anyone. His actual legacy is fluffing Trump & reckless war-mongering

Republican members of Congress—all of whom have sworn loyalty to a man, Trump, who scientific journals confirm caused at least 400,000 needless deaths during the pandemic—are today calling for prison for a man who *saved* millions of lives in the same period. A *disgusting* day.

Rand Paul--who doesn't believe in evolution--holding a hearing of Dr. Fauci--a retired, life-long public servant-- while we are *actively* in the midst of SEVERAL disease outbreaks due to unnecessary public health cuts and corporate lobbying shows exactly how unserious Republicans are.
