My feed is absolutely filled with NFL posts so I guess I’m gonna have to stop scrolling on BlueSky on Sundays for the next few months.

G.O.P. Representative Breaks With Trump in Ad: Hispanics ‘Feel Betrayed’

@sixersnba.bsky.social what's a guy gotta do to buy season tickets?? I have submitted my name for information multiple times, starting over a month ago, and nobody has gotten back to me. I can't chat with a rep... I can't get anyone on the phone... I had tickets 2 years ago and it wasn't this hard.
This is without doubt one of the most fun parts of having a kid. One of my sons decided, around that same age, that the “Jose” of “no way Jose” could be more widely evoked in exclamations. He used to say stuff like “Oh man, Jose.”
3-y.o. has interpreted the “lemon” from “easy peasy lemon squeezy” as an all-purpose intensifier. If something hurts: “Owie” If something *really* hurts: “Owie owie lemon owie”
If your judgement is so poor that you think you should listen to RFKJ rather than your pediatrician, there’s nothing I nor anyone else can do. If people have agency, you need to acknowledge the consequences of their agency rather than shifting the blame elsewhere.
We really need to push back on the narrative that actually doctors were so snooty they made people say “I’m still glad I didn’t vaccinate my kid who just died of measles”. The pathos is way fucking deeper than a pediatrician was condescending one time. This framing undercuts medical expertise.
If you’re a football fan, you’ve seen the latest study showing that at least 25% of NFL players get CTE, and probably much more. This is your regular reminder that American football is a bloodsport and should not exist.
If you have so much work to do that you feel you need AI in order to get it all done: you don't. You need a union.
share.inquirer.com/3SgaoH Infantino just concluded a highly successful World Cup. That he now finds himself clinging to the FIFA Presidency by his fingernails has to go down as one of the greateat political missteps in decades. A truly breathtaking feat of hubris, misjudgment, and stupidity.
Europe maintains World Cup boycott threat after Gianni Infantino’s FIFA crisis meeting
UEFA on Thursday reiterated that it had lost confidence in Infantino, and said conditions to withdraw its threat had not been met. The boycott would start with next month's under-20 women's World Cup.

This is just a very large-scale and severe demonstration of the principle that when you play too hard to win your primary, you screw yourself for the general election.
This is really something. Republicans privately fear Trump is now trapped in a "quagmire" in Iran that is set to screw them badly in the midterms, per Politico. They did this to themselves by giving this madman a blank check for the war. We detail it all on the pod: newrepublic.com/article/2133...
Lindsay Graham died. Meanwhile, the World Cup semifinal matches should be pretty awesome.
Just went to Wawa to grab something to eat and the total came to $7.11 and I feel like that’s some weird juju right there.
OMG this is just too good... Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) is facing a very stiff challenge from Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola , and the race could be quite close. Now somebody else has filed to get on the ballot, and his name is ... Dan Sullivan. 🤣 www.nytimes.com/2026/05/30/u...

www.newyorker.com/magazine/202... There’s enough snake oil in this piece to deep-fry a whole Indiana Jones movie scene full of snakes. Some blame modern medicine, but I think the problem runs much, much deeper than that. This is a failure to understand expertise. And it’s infecting every field.
Why Are People Injecting Themselves with Peptides?

This is actually very good news in the form of resistance (and a giant “fuck you” to Donald Trump).
Jerome Powell said he would remain on the Federal Reserve board as a governor, an unusual step that denies President Trump a vacancy on the central bank’s seven-member board.
He's worse than Roger Taney now. He's the worst Chief Justice in history, I'd say.
The John Roberts Court has done more to reduce the political power of poor people and Black people while enlarging the voting rights of rich people and corporations than has any court since Roger Taney was Chief Justice in the 1800s. I opposed his nomination in 2005, and I stand by that.
All of this. The problem is that there is been not nearly enough of a PR push in this direction, so the country likely would not be a place to support these things yet.
Restructure the court. Go to 13 seats (to correspond to number of circuits.) Go to term limits. Retroactively if possible. Investigate and if appropriate prosecute/disbar justices who have been on the take. Establish strict enforceable ethical guidelines for the court. Then move on...
Cesar Sayoc, a Trump super fan & obsessive Fox viewer, sent pipe bombs in 2018 to Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, & many other top Dems. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In the wake of the attacks, Trump said about his rhetoric: "Tone down, no. Could tone up."

It appears that even this corrupt Supreme Court won’t go for the utter ludicrousness of banning birthright citizenship, which is plainly enumerated in the Constitution. Which, of course, leaves us with the question of why they took the case in the first place… www.nytimes.com/live/2026/04...

What's something that experts/practitioners in your field universally agree upon, but that remains a "hot take" among the general public?
The AMA is a trade organization. Its true mission is to protect the financial interests of physicians.
The AMA claims that part of their mission is “to confront public health crises”. Yet their President ignored the current public health crisis caused by RFK Jr. so that he could do a photo op with him today. He also thinks that the “vaccine issue” should be addressed politely. Fuck that.
I think we're going win, but I want to win hard enough that we start paying artists to paint murals in post offices again. (This time the post offices are also banks.)
If more income inequality, more fantasies about beating the rich. Why don’t the rich understand this?
I interrupt this moment with some nerd shit. This is from the Spirit Level comparing the degree of inequality in a state (ratio of income of the top 20% to the income the bottom 20%) and confidence that you would do better than average in a fist fight. Not with a bear but still notable.
We should try capping political donations in PA. Tell Mike Bloomberg & Yass & Bezos & Musk—from now on, the max donation to a candidate for governor is $1,000 or whatever. Letting Bloomberg give $2.5M to our governor is bananas, no matter who the governor is. share.inquirer.com/1LtrB5

Dozens of CEOs in industries ranging from coal mining to gambling to real estate are helping to bankroll Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s campaign. His fundraising could invite scrutiny ahead of 2028.
