My wife had long covid and, although she's happily fully recovered, she was essentially bedbound for two years. Seeing journalists say stuff like this makes me viscerally, profoundly angry in a way that few other things manage.

Oh dear, @lewisgoodall.com of @thenewsagents.co.uk is quoting Dr Vinay Prasad. A dr in the NR piece said “What also worries me a great deal is his attitude toward patients and vulnerable populations; he has made multiple disparaging remarks toward patients with chronic illness.”

This is also something that has been troubling me. The 1960s was a heyday of local media but that didn’t stop corruption around the huge council building programmes of the time. God knows what might happen today. Also, another Tony Wilson would be nice.

It’s easier to tell people they should make the best of it in their native Crappyville than it is to make the conditions where talented but not well off people can move to highly productive places. So that is what we will do.

It's like we've taken the Brexit memo and double stamped it into meaning you need to stay put to be a success. The geographical footprint of the UK is *tiny*

These are distinctions that wind people up. But there is, from where I’m sitting, a difference in how these people view things, their electorates for one!
But… 1 and 3 are both very, very heavily driven by the 5s. Do more experienced posters used that meme with astronauts here?
