NEW: A Sienna Poll finds that 46% of NYers say a one-year moratorium on permits for large data centers would be good for NY! The Responsible Data Center Development Act passed the legislature earlier this month & would implement this moratorium. We’re calling on Governor Hochul to sign it into law

We worked with our partners in the legislature Assemblymember Karines Reyes & @sengonzalezny.bsky.social to pass a bill requiring universal access to WiFi in shelters. Now, it's up to the @governor.ny.gov to sign the law and ensure that homeless NYers have access to the internet.

NY lawmakers OK measure requiring Wi-Fi in homeless shelters statewide

The bill requires all shelters to provide high-speed broadband internet service.

There is a 3 alarm fire on 48th Ave in Long Island City. My office is in touch w/ FDNY & NYCEM. Residents of the area should expect smoke, traffic delays & emergency personnel in the area. Avoid smoke inhalation– close windows. Contact my office or 311 for any further concerns.

Yesterday, my bill, S9051B to prohibit AI companions from using manipulative features that encourage emotional dependency & other unsafe practices that put minors at risk PASSED. As this technology becomes more integrated into our lives, NY is putting safety & accountability first.

NEW: We passed S10642, the Responsible Data Center Development Act! If signed by the Governor, this would be the nation's first statewide moratorium on data centers, giving NY time to plan for responsible development that protects our energy grid, climate goals, & ratepayers.
