Hey Everyone! Michelle here. About to jump into a recording session but wanted to share that this week we're talking with @driftlesstimesmedia.com about their work tracking all the weirdness in Wisconsin. FInd us on all your favorite podcast providers or YouTube! (youtu.be/peathZpAjPE?...)

We have a lot of weird geological features in Wisconsin. I mean, we have the Driftless Region, which is like an enigma and a mystery in its own right. And nobody knows for certain why the glaciers kinda like missed that one part of the country. We have a weird—/ think it's called the Tertiary Zone, where essentially the northern half of Wisconsin's biome is radically different from the southern half of the biome, and they meet in the middle in this Tertiary Zone. The flora and fauna up North are totally different than what you'll find where I am in Madison. So that bisects the state in half. And then we have the Driftless Region that bisects it another way.
There's a lot of different boundary zones and liminal areas, if you will, built into the natural features of Wisconsin.

So we've been trained to sabotage our own movements from within and it worked on all of us I'm afraid! ESPECIALLY if you're marginalized. But here's how to stop it. Save these. These go in your phone now. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.

Infographic on spotting self-sabotage in communities. Three signs: 1) Dilutes the Purpose – off-topic nitpicking; 2) Replaces Curiosity with Caution – fear or futility messaging; 3) Drains Morale – leaves people discouraged. Passing comments add clarity, use curiosity not fear, and leave participants stronger.Infographic on countering sabotage. C Concrete facts- verify; O Orient to purpose; M Mind morale; P Protect the point; A Acknowledge don’t accuse; S Steer to solutions. Each step pairs with research showing how clarity, purpose, empathy, and small actions restore cooperation.

Quote: What magic and ritual can do is keep you focused, keep you energized, keep you working on the things you care about. And it's not like spells you do that you can say "Oh, I'm doing a spell because I need money to pay my rent," and then you do a ritual, and then somehow the money, you know, works out. That's great! And that kind of magic is wonderful, and I embrace that sort of magic, too. But magic, to me, is like also art. And this whole experience and a lot of the rituals in the book are designed to, you know, to have an impact on people, to build up the people doing them as much as it is for the actual endpoint.

We are back this week, joined by the awesome Bella Payne, founder of The Healthy Voice and creator of the Voice Liberation Method! In this episode, we discuss her work as a voice coach, sound healer, and somatic educator helping folks find their voices and express themselves! ⬇️ Link below!

The Eternal Void, But With Jazz S1E19: "Freeing Our Voices" with Bella Payne

Quote by Bella Payne: "And there are many ways you can stimulate the vagus nerve. Deep breathing is one of them, which we have to do when we're working on singing. We have to manage our breath support. And singing is one of the best ways to stimulate [the vagus nerve.] Also massage. That's why we start with face massage. It's one of the reasons; there are other reasons why we do that in voice lessons, but the original reason why I started face massage was to stimulate my vagus nerve because I was running on such a high energy of fear and stress. And so, I just wanted some relief, and every book on somatic therapies talks about the vagus nerve. It's a very important concept to understand. It's very simple, too. And so, every time you trigger it, you're relaxing your nervous system and you're sending that relaxation response to all of your vital organs at the same time."
