1/ Over the past several months that I’ve watched the Alberta separatists, it probably won’t be a surprise that there is a significant amount of bigotry and far-right conspiracy rhetoric in the ecosystem. One could do a big thread on that story, but this time went about that.
Oh look - gun lobbyists saying that "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" ... only it didn't happen that way. They need to explain exactly how they think more guns is ever the solution - because it's not, and we only have to look at one country to prove it. #cdnpoli

Albertans insist on nurturing their grievances. Fine. They might want to think a little more about the ones they have with their own provincial governments -- and the scale of damage their decisions have done. #cdnpoli #abpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/07/07/o...
Alberta’s grievances should really be with Alberta
If Albertans insist on playing the blame game, I have a suggestion for who they ought to be targeting: their provincial government.

‘Polarization’ has become the master concept for diagnosing our current democratic crisis. But this is not polarization. It is the radicalization of the political right. By misdiagnosing it, we risk becoming complicit in the crisis. 🧵 Just out in Perspectives on Politics doi.org/10.1017/S153...

That was obvious the day the initial MOU was signed, and confirmed the day that Smith started trying to "renegotiate terms". This boondoggle pipeline will turn out to be billions sunk by the AB government in the name of "derisking", only to discover there is no market for it.

The fundamental problem here is that the Alberta Government is madly trying to avoid spending the money needed to do it right. A "one card for all" isn't necessarily bad, but it requires a significant IT infrastructure to work. /1. #abpoli #ableg

Rant: Lane splitting on a motorcycle is _NOT_ going 50% faster than the traffic and dodging between vehicles already moving at high speed. What you're doing then is simply riding like an a*****e and endangering yourself and others. It takes fractions of a second for something to go very wrong.
