Dear gods, surely even a decent number of GCs/anti-transers must look at this and think it is ridiculous because, not to be rude, but some of them *must* know they’ve a chance of being caught by this regulation. It’s nice, the clarity, isn’t it?

Shot - chaser - finisher The EHRC admits there's no way to enforce anti-trans exclusion using paperwork. Therefore it's only possible using gender stereotypes. Therefore they defend excluding basically anyone who might be suspected of being trans. A recipe for utter chaos.

The new guidance also removes a suggestion in an earlier draft that those running services could in “necessary and proportionate circumstances” ask to see a birth certificate or gender recognition certificate (GRC) if they suspected someone was lying about their sex. The final code instead says it would “unlikely be proportionate or practical to ask for further evidence of a person’s sex” even if doubts were raised. It said “there is no type of official record or document in the UK which provides reliable evidence of sex” because people can change their sex on passports and driving licences without a GRC.

Living in York, is a great place to reflect on what it means to be 'British'. Founded in 71AD by the Roman Empire, Eboracum was such an important city that two Roman Emperors happened to be here when they died. The multangular tower is largely of Roman construction. @VisitYork 1/12

So according to England, trans men cannot use the women’s bathroom because it would frighten cis women. But trans women cannot use the women’s bathroom because it would frighten cis women. Repost if you’re not “frightened” of trans people just needing to pee! Come on!

I do think this is a big part of the problem. For many children, schools are intense and overwhelming, with very little downtime or the ability to follow their interests. Add in long days if parents are working or the intensity of social media etc, it's tough!

So we can call this a ‘SEND crisis’ - but possibly it’s more of a systemic ed issue? If schools were more accommodating, fewer children would need their ‘SEND’ designation?
