Angry at the government, but also into fiber arts, dancing, SF&F, documentaries, and K- pop & dramas. Don't forget to vote in local elections.

The Museum of Brisbane has an exhibition called Precious. In short, "A bunch of local nerds had extremely specific collections, and their next of kin didn't know what to do with them, so here they are." I love it.

i feel like a good metaphor for this would be a hot new chef having a meal laid out when their investors arrive (they actually ordered take out) so they get huge investment and on the restaurants opening night their kitchen staff immediately realizes the chef dosent know how to even turn on the oven

interesting thing that is rarely talked about with authors trying to use AI in debut novels: you will get caught once edits start or at MOST on book two. self publishing is different i suppose, but anyone out there trying to break into traditional publishing with AI clearly does not know the process

Increasingly, Soylent Green serves as one of the best metaphors for AI -- it's taking all that we are, as people, chumming it up, and feeding the slurry back to us. We're told that we need it, it's nutritious, it'll save the world, even as it damns it and us.

I am forced by a time-traveling version of myself to remind you that if you preorder THE CALAMITIES from @doylestownbookshop.bsky.social by 8/2 you get cool demonic goodies from me — so you should do that or you’ll make both the demons and the time-traveling version of me so mad

PRE-ORDER THE CALAMITIES FROM THE DOYLESTOWN AND LAHASKA BOOKSHOPS

The Cleveland Public Library's union voted overwhelmingly, 97%, to authorize a strike, which will happen in August if the administrators continue to stall contract negotiations. As an author whose work is carried by those libraries, I whole-heartedly endorse the library workers.

This is *precisely* correct, and I was thinking the exact same thing. What a lot of people (on the right, but only mostly) are doing is antisemitic by calling things antisemitic when they're not. And again, for the record, I'm Jewish by upbringing and it's absolutely a genocide.

THIS IS GOOD MESSAGING AND NOT ANTISEMITIC. Criticizing Netanyahu is not antisemitic. Lumping all Jews together like we’re a fucking monolith is.

If your customers are writing in saying "hey your choices are funding trans genocide and I am not giving you any more money," maybe "every purchase comes with a 5% donation to GLAAD" is not the glory-restoring answer you seem to think it is.
