got home and checked on my pigment red 255 pyrrole scarlet dispersion that was going in the tumbler because it sounded different . the paste that filled, last I checked, about 1/6 of the tumbler barrel, had turned into a dense foam filling the container to the brim like a scarlet red cake frosting

morning brushouts: pigment black 30 and pigment yellow 216. Not really happy with my PBk30, it’s so granulating and not easy to work. PY216 came out great but I’m underwhelmed by the color. Knew this black was a tricky one which is why I did it first in case I botched anything

barrel i was using for a dry grind of pr255 just blew out a hilarious amount as I opened the lid. with such a bright high chroma pigment luckily a hilarious amount only needs to be like 1/8th of a teaspoon. obvious change in size that i’m hoping translates to transparency. now dispersing in water

pigment black 30 dispersion is done. i’ll post pictures of a paint out tomorrow. currently grinding some pyrrole scarlet - pigment red 255 - to make it more transparent. I have some inorganic synthetics back on deck next - PB71, PB74 and 2 shades of PG26

I always found it scary how animation made this look fairly safe. Like I have a good intuition regarding physics but the animation of this made it look like it made sense

Two weights of the great typeface Souvenir designed by Morris Benton in the 1910s and revived and expanded by Ed Benguiat in the 70s. When you can’t get away with setting it in Cooper Black (or lighter), Souvenir is almost always my next try. Shame about the text
