It's eligibility season for lists and awards, so here's my lil plug that Casthen Gain (2025) is eligible in novella categories! As science fantasy, it would be appropriate in either genre. 🫧🍲💜

Okay, after several hours spent agonizing over the details… edits are done and I am happy to say: yeah, this story is good 🙂‍↕️ Cannot wait to share it with you soon. Hope you love prehistoric myth and ritual murder and religious trauma and cults and sad women who are pathetic levels of in love.

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to "help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.

2025 awards eligibility post - take two! I have two short stories out this year, and I would be so grateful if you kept them (and me) in mind during awards season! Links threaded below - thanks for reading!

Are you a marginalized author (or the editor/agent/publicist of one) who has a trad pub book coming out in 2026 that is science fiction, fantasy, or horror and either adult or young adult? This book critic wants to know about it! Small press strongly encouraged. bookjockeyalex.com/contact/
