The dialect quiz cannot nail me. The closest it got were the twin cities. But man. I have complicated answers to the freeway/highway/tollway question that the answers simply do not cover.

I find this an increasing issue in YA as well. A lot of authors are trying to hold the hands of their teen audiences (or of the adults who are reading it). Everything is over explained and wrapped up in a tidy bow. Teens complain to me about it frequently.

It’s about time we had a reckoning with the need so many writers feel to over-explain everything aspect of their stories, even in non Weird genres. Readers don’t need to be babied. Let us figure things out. Leave room for interpretation. Over-explanation makes writing worse.

I have 1.3 million followers on tiktok for some reason and every word i breathe can DESTROY you just like you destroyed my faith in humanity when i read words that didn't make sense. Because you're bad at writing. Not because i can't read. I can absolutely read. I can read so good you have no idea

All your literary contraptions and narrative twists mean nothing to me. The words on the page also mean nothing to me. I saw the cover and assumed the story within & any deviation from that assumption is a sign that you have no idea what you are doing, because i learned the word "subtext" yesterday

Oooooooy someone in this work meeting was brave enough to say “there’s a disconnection between what I’m told about AI from the company and my actual experience, because it keeps giving me bullshit”

Quote-posting this because it's something I think needs more eyes. The feature literally exists to be able to hide people from our timelines. If it can be "in violation" when there isn't even anyone on it, then Bsky moderation loses all trust. A human needs to make those decisions. Period.

Earlier I created a moderation list, put absolutely nobody on it, & a couple hours later Bluesky had E-mailed me to say it broke their rules & was hiding it from everybody. Yeah, I'm DEFINITELY gonna move to another host in this ecosystem in the future. I can't stand the vibe-coded AI moderation.

I can only assume Sony are trying to play a clever little word game here. of course consumers don't believe they're "obtaining ownership" of the game in the legal sense of owning the intellectual property and holding the copyright. but they absolutely believe they (should) own _their copy_.

Sony says "reasonable consumers" know they don’t own the digital PlayStation games they buy. It argues that it's "not plausible" to suggest that when they buy a digital game they actually believe they're "obtaining ownership" of it. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sony-sa...

I was sad and pissed about Outlier, but then I got this response to my "fuck off for using 'AI'" message, so now my entire attitude is "Good riddance, you pathetic, rationalizing sack of fermented hyena vomit." Bald-face-lying (not even going to COUNT the blatant lies), excuse-riding fucknugget.

In response to my message to Outlier saying that I was deleting my account because they openly admitted to using "AI" and then mealy-mouth rationalized it when called to account, I received this:

Greetings! I respect your point of view, and I'm publicly upfront about using AI. I'm not hiding anything. Almost all are not. It's your choice to decide which games you want to support and which you don't. All software today is using AI to code. Every business is forced to use it. Programmers are using AI to code, they don't hand code anymore. It would be impossible to compete, and the cost of programming by hand too high and too slow. I would not be feasible economically and no amount of support from players would cover that. This is a hobby of mine not a business, I do it for love of tha [sic] game and for bringing joy to people across the world. People still want to hate on it, and that's fine. If you boycott this game that's fine, but you are only kidding yourself - everything you use today is using AI whether anyone likes it or not. No hard feelings. Have a wonderful day!

Under this new rule, undergraduate degree programs that, four years out from graduation, do not lead to median earnings that are higher than the median earnings of young adults with only a high school degree will be deemed “failing schools.”

"Everything will be made by AI in a few years so you should accept it now" is a very odd argument. If we knew all food was going to be lab-grown in a few years, the rational response would be to a) eat tons of real food while it's still available and b) lobby extremely hard to make that not happen.

part of the emotional weight of the past 10 years is anyone who can extrapolate a new fact from two existing facts has been screaming "is anyone else seeing this??? godzilla is coming!" right up until the point godzilla steps on a building and then the rest of the country goes "oh shit wtf?"

"what if we start a trade war for no reason" "prices will go up" "we started a trade war for no reason" "prices are up" "oh no"

we also need to be loud about rejecting services and products *because* of AI if you can, take company surveys after terminating services and explain AI integration is the reason for canceling make a stink. be a karen against ai and chew out some middle manager for their companys use of AI

I do not use AI. Not to write my books, not to write email replies, not to do research. I've moved away from Google, Gmail, Microsoft, etc. I am not willing to sacrifice my integrity, my intelligent, and my empathy so that billionaires can win their massive gamble.

Please be vocal about not using AI. We have to normalize it. No "I'm not going to say that because it should be assumed. I'm not going to give them this". We don't have time for that shit ideological shit right now. NOW is the time to capitalize on waning favorability. Ppl want human made
