"“Slop” is so visceral to me because I grew up feeding literal slop to pigs. Buckets and buckets of table scraps, garden trash, cheap grain, etc. soaked in water and poured into a trough. Pigs LOVE slop. We’d pour it out and they’d jostle each other and scarf it down in big reckless mouthfuls with happy, satisfied grunts. Pigs are smart animals, but not enough to understand the reason for the slop buffet. They didn’t know about bacon. I see people satisfied using Gen AI. Do they know about bacon? "

My comfort zone: Tiny fantasy people, preferably with big backpacks.

Four types of adventurers from two different settings.
The first row reads: Human fighter, Gnome wizard, Earthen Thief, and Svar cleric.
The second row is the same archetypes but they are all humans from The Thief of Tales.

Three Earthen (a fantasy dwarf-like people) adventurers. They are listed as an Anvil City artificer, a Thoranic Templar, and a Burrow Lancer. This last one is riding a badger.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. What happening above that volcano? Something very unusual -- a volcanic light pillar. More typically, light pillars are caused by sunlight and so appear as a bright column that extends upward above a rising or setting Sun. Alternatively, other light pillars -- some quite colorful -- have been recorded above street and house lights. This light pillar, though, was illuminated by the red light emitted by the glowing magma of an erupting volcano. The volcano is Italy's Mount Etna, and the featured image was captured with a single shot a few hours after sunset in mid-June. Freezing temperatures above the volcano's ash cloud created ice-crystals either in cirrus clouds high above the volcano -- or in condensed water vapor expelled by Mount Etna.
