One of the reasons I call myself a Xennial: my IG is filled w millenials talking about the “Italian charm bracelets” they had as KIDS coming back. I was a complete adult when I got mine. I still have it & it has stuff from my husband on it. Like. Damn.

One of the great joys of my adult life has been realizing that I can just pick up a new skill every so often, take a fun little class in it weekly for a year or two, and simply enjoy meeting people and getting medium proficient and not attempting to become professional in it at all!

Today I had to tell another person about my niece for the first time. I feel weird bc I’m able to talk about it without emotion as a self-protection thing. Just stating facts. Same w my illness & disability. People who haven’t dealt w these things don’t get that part.

First, you tell me to get a hobby; now it's an “appropriate hobby”.

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

I live in Ontario. Our universal health care in Canada is provincial. It is called OHIP: Ontario Health Insurance Program. It does not include prescription medication for all citizens. I qualify for coverage of an expensive medicine needed to function w AS. I cannot get it renewed. This is hell.

It’s apparently “don’t share inspiration porn o’clock”. A disabled person doing something skillfully should not be cause for “shock”. Especially when that person has been doing whatever it is for 40+ years. Objectifying someone for nondisabled feel-good time is demoralizing.

Watching Designated Survivor for the first time in the year 2026 is such a trip.

The focus on the worker doesn't help. People who do the necessary work to keep society going should be honored and supported, but work should not be the measure of a person's worth.

Sorry I’m going to be unusually full of rage this week bc I am grieving the two worst losses of a life in which I need two hands to count the number of friends who’ve died & in which I am forced to retire at age 40 after decades of institutional and personal abuse so just… mute me or whatever.

Once again, America doesn’t trust teachers to deliver the curriculum but they also want us to have guns & now inspect children’s genitals (after a years-long campaign to brand us as groomers). I don’t want to believe all conservatives are stupid but sometimes it’s just too easy.
