Spider-Man: Brand New Day is actually melting the brains of people who can't see a character do actual bad things and have layered reasoning in a movie. Amazing. They're so in-deep conditioned by actual fascist storytelling that one fairly well-written and mildly challenging movie broke them.

I can't be the only person who instantly knows why a character that textually personifies the betrayal of human values and complete corruption of society should not be cast as a person of color... Right?

Now this is fair to criticize - an Odyssey movie with Patel as Odysseus would be great but obviously not THIS Odyssey where it would be pretty bad to frame a brown guy as a symbol of the failings of American imperial policy.

look i KNOW these are production stills and not footage but yikes. Terrible first look. Stale, no personality, bordering on the 2002 TV movie. We'll see how it goes but from these the 2013 version is owed a big time apology.
