I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of veteran environmental campaigner, Irish Times journalist and good soul Frank McDonald. I eagerly devoured his book 'The Destruction of Dublin' (1985) and newspaper articles when I was young, learned a lot, and have remained a life-long admirer ever since.

I remember when this was nothing but sterile wet grassland. Now it's a diverse, thriving ecosystem, getting steadily richer year on year. Despite having actually lived it, even I find the transition hard to believe. To add joy and wonder to your life, there is no better route than rewilding.
