Today was the longest Planning Commission meeting I've ever been part of - we started at 9am & adjourned shortly after 5pm. Thanks to the Commissioners, City staff, and especially members of the public who spent their day w/ us, in person or virtually.

Pro tip for my development friends: when a woman gives you clear direction about your application, you can follow it or ask for clarification. Complaining to her male subordinates is not the way.

The next time you're evaluating a city council candidate, pay attention to how they treat staff in public meetings. These are public servants with domain expertise that have dedicated their lives to making their cities better and they are so often dismissed or treated with contempt.

Publicly supporting women is nice, but what really matters is what men do behind closed doors. What matters is how they hold each other accountable. The men’s hockey team shouldn’t get a pass because they were in the locker room—that’s where women need their support the most.
