I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

I once again find myself delighted and despaired to be in the most American city on the globe: Brasilia.

I’ve seen enough. God is 1) real 2) nonbinary 3) primarily motivated by a deep hatred of JD Vance
JD Vance is on a historic roll: He campaigns for AfD in Germany - they lose. Invited the Pope to come to US for Trump’s big event - Pope refuses. Leads peace negotiations with Iran - fails miserably. Campaigns in Hungary for Orbán - who gets smoked.
The thing about blockading Hormuz is that it is the logical conventional escalation option vs. running a massive bombing campaign or attempting amphibious invasions, to the point where I’m surprised they didn’t do it first week of March.
$AAPL great take on the new MacBook Neo, and how PC makers ignore it at their peril ie 8GB RAM is zippier on this machine running MacOS (not iPadOS) so they can keep costs down
Since 1y BEI @ 5% chart is doing the rounds, a not of caution: short-term TIPS are *extremely* illiquid. To price breakeven inflation you match nominal UST with TIPS, which gives you an inflation "price". But if one leg of that is super illiquid....well you got some issues.
Glad to see @conorsen.bsky.social is still hustling.
Travis Kalanick is making a renewed comeback, with a new company called Atoms that will focus on robotics within the food, mining and transportation industries. As @seanokane.bsky.social reports, more details remain to be seen, but it could be starting with a "wheelbase for robots."
This is hardly the primary issue, but I guess Khamenei isn't going to respond to my Twitter DMs asking if he liked anime.
Honestly in an italy themed setting this would be great
The Witcher knock off series about another caste of semi-reviled half-human mutants reluctantly tolerated by society at large, but they’re bred for securities regulation rather than monster killing.
It's shocking that we have to keep learning that people just want (other) people to be relatively polite and act fuckin normal
to the median voter, performative anti-wokeness is exactly as obnoxious as performative wokeness

Oh my gd. Musk is fucking insane with this quoted sentence from the press release on SpaceX acquiring xAI. "This marks not just the next chapter, but the next book in SpaceX and xAI's mission: scaling to make a sentient sun to understand the Universe." (full press release in images)

Black hole mergers from LIGO are pulling at my brain because the mergers of event horizons and release of significant amounts of energy as gravitational waves (5% of combined mass) imply the possibility the underlying whatever that's behind the event horizon could be merging as well, which is a trip

Market internals are incredibly poor considering we are less than 1% away from all-time index highs and VIX at 17. Massive round-tripping earnings volatility, huge dollar moves, dispersion creeping up in megacaps, giant leveraged unwinds in metals on no news.
Spanish language WhatsApp did a huge number on the population here. Throw in some old immigrant vs newly arrived immigrant disdain and knowledge of their own positive selection really occluded people's minds. Lot of people I know told me "I'll be fine, he's just going after the criminals."
Not to go all ESG mode but there's no way having your name associated with this stuff while the GOP is blowing it going into midterms is good for the LT appropriations outlook.
1. ICE is using Palantir apps to collect biometric data on protestors. I'm working closely with @markey.senate.gov to stop this.
