We need to bring back the hatchback. The people don't want sedans. They don't want stationwagons. They don't want SUVs and crossovers. They want indestructible sporty little hatchbacks with carrying capacity that feels like a bag of holding.

This is, "Guns don't kill people, people do" logic applied to auto bloat. The reality is that we know certain cars and trucks are more deadly for people outside of them because of their height, weight, and poor sight lines. Driver behavior matters, but some vehicles are inherently more dangerous.
