they told me we'd be finished by now 📍New Orleans
I'm calling it: "Start smoking" is going to be mainstream MAHA / Republican health advice by 2028. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
In the last 20-odd years only one right-wing Republican in a major race was subjected to the “we can’t let them win the primary, they’re simply not electable in the general” argument that a dozen left-wing Democrats face every year. That person was then elected president twice.
It's "Electability" season once again so let me just remind everybody possessing this incredible power of foresight to tell us something useful like November stock prices.
You will be surprised to learn that I do not believe there is a “moral imperative“ to teach educators about AI.
“Teaching educators about AI is a ‘moral imperative’, said Randi Weingarten, the AFT president.” “And without outside funding, it was a choice between taking big tech’s money or doing nothing, she said.”
remember when Sheryl invited a bunch of feminist bloggers to dinner and they all wrote nice things about her airport book being the future of feminism
Lean In To Fascism
Very plausible, but it would be just as illegal and appalling if they WERE involved in drug trafficking.
The US military’s strikes on alleged drug boats have likely illegally killed “individuals who are not involved in narcotrafficking,” Sen. Tim Kaine told the White House, following “a careful review” of classified information he has seen so far.
Well it seems tighter than people were saying it would be. I could still easily be wrong but I did make these vibes-based calls a week or so ago.
Depends on where you are. In New Orleans, food might have actually peaked in the late 80s and early 90s. Both in terms of what you could find in restaurants at all price points and in terms of what was available to cook at home.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
El-Sayed is likely still winning but will definitely be by 4-5%, not the double digits a vast number of polls have said in the last week. That almost all election data is now bad polling and vibes-based degenerate gambling sites partnered with the very news networks reporting on it doesn't bode well
i know votes are still being counted but the more i look at this michigan senate map the more it becomes clear that it kind of looks like a mitten
37.6% of the vote counted in Michigan: El-Sayed and Stevens are separated by fewer votes than non-candidate Mallory McMorrow is getting. Too early to call.
Cori Bush lost. Turns out giant piles of money still win most of the time
What time will James Carville be announcing his official departure from the Dem Party? I want to be sure to tune in.
I also hope Slotkin gets that this is very much about her, too, punching left and voting for Trump deportations as thanks for the Harris/Walz turnout pulling her over the line.
The best hope of depressing key parts of the Dem base was having AIPAC pick our Senate candidate. Thrilled if we dodge that, for lack of a better word, bullet.
In the future, I really hope that people will have learned the answer to, "Could this recall campaign be a wasteful scam?" is always Yes veritenews.org/2026/08/04/l...

With three months to go, former Louisiana Deserves Better members say the recall petition still has time to be successful, but its chair’s leadership has alienated many volunteers and refused to accep...

This is legit insane. It requires girls from K-12 to go through genetic testing, testosterone screening, or a physical exam to participate in sports. For feminists worked up about trans athletes, this is the through line. This is where we were going to end up. It’s about control and dominance.
Good framing.
Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.
Michigan will provide another crucial test of whether progressives can not only keep up their winning streak in safe-blue seats but also break through in battlegrounds crucial for control of Congress. The stakes for the Democratic Party are huge.
On Wednesday, the Senate Commerce Committee will vote on four bills that would expand age verification, increase online surveillance, and make it harder to access lawful speech online. Take one minute to tell your senators to vote NO. www.acteff.org/campaign/16...

We’re also funding death squads but what’s really offensive is that somewhere out there a poor person might be able to eat
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

this is an interesting interview and if i were clipping it for social media i would have excerpted "We're still a place where we don't downrank links. We love sending traffic to people. We send two million clicks a day to publishers" rather than the part that'll just piss people off lol
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
"The idea of society may sound appealing, but it's old men who will take the hit, planting trees under whose shade they might never sit."
