Publishers are entitled to profit off my work in perpetuity. While I'm entitled to eat ramen garnished with Mexican cheese, while I wait for another break or survival job to come through. Tonight, that seems unbalanced.

Yet it's... still hard and embarrassing to ask for $10 for food. The Kickstarted Hellraiser comic collection made almost a million. $880,000. About 1/3 were issues I wrote. I'm not entitled to any of that.
The Heroes Initiative is a fantastic nonprofit that helps comics creators in need. Those who publishers and the rest of the industry haven't helped, and won't. Which means the Initiative's existence is an eternal, living indictment of a business that puts creators in jeopardy in the first place.
