Biggest trade deadline winner is the.... Guardians! But mainly because the biggest trade deadline loser was the Tigers, who gave up meaningful playoff chances.

On the one hand, frustrating to lose out on Skubal because your better prospect isn't a pitcher. On the other hand, you couldn't flip him for a pitcher and something else to keep? On the third hand, couldn't you just do that if you're the Tigers, too?
Confirmation that the Brewers offered at least one prospect better than Hope (Luis Peña) and at least one, maybe two, other Top 100 prospect bats. That would certainly seem to be a stronger offer, but the Tigers wanted a pitcher as part of the deal.
Lots of great notes in this @adammccalvy.bsky.social newsletter on the Brewers' potential prospect offer for Tarik Skubal: www.mlb.com/brewers/news...
Wait, I think I'm dumb. Can someone tell me how NFBC roster moves work? Like, when can I move players between bench and lineup? Is it the same for pitchers and hitters?
I believe in the kind of America where no matter where you grow up, the color of your skin, how you pray, you deserve equal rights in this country. You deserve to go to a good school, get healthcare when you need it, and know that you can graduate and get a good job.
With yesterday's trades, the O's are to the second most valuable farm system, per FanGraphs. Red Sox down to 17th.
I took the FanGraphs prospect grades and value ratings and put them in graphical form. Makes it easier to see which orgs have quality or quantity of prospects. Orioles vs Seattle is interesting, right in the middle. I'd rather have the fewer but better prospects in the Mariner system, fwiw.
I think Americans need to wake up. Fellow Jews-- this is like a yellow star and as soon as an injunction is lifted, there could be a roundup. Be freaking outraged and HELP. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

Marcus Semien: 3.2 bWAR to -0.7 Bo Bichette: 3.4 to 0.1 Jorge Polanco: 2.5 to -1.2 Luis Robert: 1.4 to 0.0 Freddy Peralta: 5.5 to -1.2 (!!) Tobias Myers: 0.6 to -0.8 That's 16.6 bWAR to -3.8. A swing of 20.4. What a terrible team.
thinking about this again this fine morning
line from Rob Cerfolio's interview at FanGraphs is gonna stick with me for awhile bc so much of public player evaluation has turned the other way: "We’re not solving for Double-A performance. We’re solving for major league impact." blogs.fangraphs.com/cardinals-fa...
"But what if Adley Rutschman doesn't stay healthy" you complain, as you trade away a pitcher with 68 innings in professional ball.
I said before the season I thought the Reed Sox were the best team in the American League, and I still believe that. The Yankees are right up there *if* Judge is healthy, thanks to breakouts in the rotation.
Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez sent down on the same day. Chef's kiss
He’s eager to play on the same team as some of his WBC teammates, and he’s eager to win again. Senzatela has gone through some things. He went from being, literally, the worst pitcher in baseball to a reliever who was traded to a contender. I don’t think any of us thought he could do it.
Making his MLB debut as a 28-year old, even if he's going back to the minors after the game once Hicks arrives. 551st pick of the 2021 draft
Transportation secretary Sean Duffy benefited from millions in corporate donations to make a show about road trips. But two months after Duffy said the show would premiere, it doesn't appear to exist at all. My latest False Flag @thebulwark.com: www.thebulwark.com/p/what-the-h...
What the Hell Happened to Sean Duffy’s Road-Trip TV Show?
Three months after it was announced, the secretary of transportation’s summer show—funded by companies he regulates—hasn’t aired a single episode.

Willson Contreras is 19th among hitters in fWAR, and was acquired for Hunter Dobbins, a 40 grade prospect and a 35+ grade prospect. He's signed through 2028. Still not seeing the articles fawning over that fleecing.
And, perhaps, an argument not to have sold so much last year?
I feel like “the Twins were buyers one year after an all-time sell off” is the story here. Yeah, the AL sucks, but I don’t think many people saw this coming.
Stearns made the point that if you pursue the top talent, versus trying to meet immediate need, you might get some players who surprise you and meet those needs anyway, à la Ewing this year. It’s optimistic, but it’s instructive to his approach.
Who knows the root causes, but hey, nice to think crime can be solved from the ground up instead of the top down.
HUGE: Under Mayor Mamdani, New York City just recorded its safest first 7 months of a year in history—and its safest July ever. In July: Major crime dropped 13% Murder dropped 32% Robberies dropped 15% Vehicle thefts dropped 25% Democratic mayors are putting public safety first.
Red Sox could have also just demoted Marcelo Mayer, think they know that?
Tyler Wells will begin his transition back to starting games in early June of 2027.
While all this craziness is going on, much love to all the prospect writers out there. Nobody would know anything about any of these guys if it weren't for y'all.
