First, harms of idealist/simple mechanistic cause/effect thinking. Regulation appears, cures, no cycle just lines in a direction. Second, confusion around the application (if at all) of dialectical and historical materialism. That is, the new deal was not some panacea. Reddit is great for this.

I am glad to see “suicide is a complex issue” in programming now. That is not enough, you must understand what complexity is (specifically complex systems/complexity science) and how to respond to it. Hint: not via linear cause/effect programing.

I don’t think enough people remember that conservatives were openly celebrating the way a deadly virus in public schools could lead more wealthy white families to opt for homeschooling or safer private schools. They saw it as an opportunity to resegregate education.

At a trauma leadership meeting and a debate around children being worse [sic] than previous times came up. Baffling to me that the discussion centered a child’s behavior and not the changing conditions that children navigate now vs say the 90s. Of course it’s different, what does “worse” get you?
