At a conference on suicide. Normally conferences are difficult for me to get through because they are very command/control, reductive, chest beating. This one has felt different. Could it be that it is indigenous led?

Spectacle: an object of contempt. Unbalanced opinion synthesis in real time. Public health, systems, complaining, first drafts?
*sigh* political opponent AI videos as the modern dear editor war of words is so fucking boooo. The least creative dolts run this world.
Great 🧵. Now if I could just get my friend to break up with her boyfriend!
Yesterday’s post on my Patreon was my translation of Zarathustra’s Prologue from Thus Spoke Zarathustra. As most of you know by now I’ve been slowly translating the entire text over the last few years, but lately I’ve been working on it more because I’ve decided to finish in the next 18 months.
Pumped to listen.
In our latest, we discuss the Trump administration’s proposal to shift the definition of “medical frailty” under Medicaid to redefine health as your ability to work, and how this threatens not just the healthcare of countless people, but Medicaid itself www.patreon.com/deathpanelpo...
“The litigation has revealed a clear pattern: Uber’s lawyers scour women’s private communications, medical records, therapy notes …They grill the women about those issues, their sex lives and their behavior on the night of the incident.” www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/b...
Uber’s Strategy for Fighting Sexual Assault Suits: ‘What Were You Wearing?’
The ride-hailing giant promised to handle legal claims “in a way that is best for the survivor.” Its lawyers are pursuing a far more aggressive strategy.

Attempting to rehabilitate Spanburgler via restatement of rights to 66k people. Seeing this article everywhere. Shouldn’t even be news.
First, harms of idealist/simple mechanistic cause/effect thinking. Regulation appears, cures, no cycle just lines in a direction. Second, confusion around the application (if at all) of dialectical and historical materialism. That is, the new deal was not some panacea. Reddit is great for this.
Starting to think some of you need to go work in an office and play some ice breaker games so you can learn how to deal with people who are not strongly invested in politics and barely believe anything.
I am glad to see “suicide is a complex issue” in programming now. That is not enough, you must understand what complexity is (specifically complex systems/complexity science) and how to respond to it. Hint: not via linear cause/effect programing.
I am so so tired of taking calls from new orgs in the suicide space and all they talk about are awareness campaigns and tabling at “events.” We’ve been doing this for 50 years.
I shouldn’t be, but when I message a mf about a pair of used pants I expect a response, not a ghosting. BITCH IMA GIVE YOU MONEY FOR YOUR USED PANTS! TODAY!!!
Report out on the water situation east of I-95 in Virginia. Special session requested. It is beyond frustrating that we have failed to be more than a crisis response society.
“Believe many can defeat the money.” Mf it doesn’t need to be a belief it is an historical fact! One of the only paths forward. Organized masses holding the money to account.
Maybe I’m not being generous, but I don’t think “path breaking” is a good way to describe anyone’s “legacy”. If you’re engaged/critical/responsive, then new paths emerge. Path breaking is just the norm. Path continuing. It’s not currently, because we organize society in the most stupid of ways. 🤷♂️
Maaaan, when we get to selling “vintage mic stands” on Marketplace, I mean COME ON what are we doing!
I have said this weird shit would start happening from day one.
New: We found 50 cops who misused Flock cameras and other license-plate readers for personal purposes, often to spy on their girlfriends or ex-wives. He "watched every single move I made. ... Who do you turn the chief of police in to?" wapo.st/3S6rTuo
Can’t tell of I’m just really old or if looks maxing is a horrible fringe cultural development.
When one encounters this type of behavior the correct response is to laugh in their face and then beat their fucking ass.
The DOGE team was acting like “a bunch of people who didn’t know what they were doing, with ideas of how government should run — thinking it should work like a McDonald’s or a bank — screaming all the time,” former SSA Commissioner Leland Dudek said. (Published Sept. 2025)
I mostly just find this odd as a rhetorical strategy because it seems fairly obvious to me that, however bad I am persuaded that "hypocritically ignore genocides B and C" is as a politics, "consistently ignore genocides A B and C" is straightforwardly more dogshit
Just wondering, where all the “say it’s a genocide” folks have been when it comes to Sudan and Myanmar?
I don’t think enough people remember that conservatives were openly celebrating the way a deadly virus in public schools could lead more wealthy white families to opt for homeschooling or safer private schools. They saw it as an opportunity to resegregate education.
To whom do we report the Department of Education for bullying?
This information has destroyed me. I’m gutted. May delete my account.
We're in Texas and we went to a Sonic for the first time in like ten years and got cherry limeades. They no longer have (a) the good ice, (b) limes, or (c) cherries. Do I even need to say that they got bought by a private equity firm?
At a trauma leadership meeting and a debate around children being worse [sic] than previous times came up. Baffling to me that the discussion centered a child’s behavior and not the changing conditions that children navigate now vs say the 90s. Of course it’s different, what does “worse” get you?
Fandom has swamped criticism in every arena, from books and movies to tech journalism to politics. Criticism: evaluating this work/the actions of a person based on an explicit set of criteria Fandom: fighting for or against this work/person based on personal identification with the work/person
Develop your external analysis, yes. But for all that is holy, please deal with your trauma. Interrogate your internal machinations. Analyze your fear. Your insecurity. Your anger. Understand what it means to not center yourself in all things. Address it. A prayer for the masses of which I am one.
Lots said about the Odyssey movie. I want everyone to know that I read the book when it first came out and therefore I’m better than everyone.
Still waiting for that youtube “filter out AI content” button…
It did force me to go the Linux route tho so I’m running that on my 2017 mac.
And also, garbage at this stage. My 2025 imac (which I purchased because my perfectly good 2017 macbook stopped working with new updates) is a giant POS. Crashes at least weekly. Freezes. Generally an embarrassing buy. But I’m addicted to Logic Pro.
