I should say at no point in my economics or even most of my poli science or Canadian history training was I ever taught about treaties, their fiscal federalist links, or our future contingencies. At some point though through especially the TRC, court challenges, and all things I started to learn

Today in my public finance class, two days before the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: a treaty is a fiscal commitment. The 1850 Robinson Treaties promised annuities that rise if the land produces enough "without incurring loss." Frozen at $4 since 1875. Still being priced.

The HCIC collaboration with the PWHL has people telling on themselves. First it was terrible that it wasn't hockey and Canadian institutions are dying, blah blah. Now naysayers have come back to say that it's can't be wOmEn'S hOcKeY. Still very white and expensive - but not male.

In Oleshky, a town on Russian-occupied territory, residents are starving. There are no shops. A husband and wife returning with bags of food from another town were killed by a drone. Children are malnourished. The Russians are imposing a "full blocade," Ukraine says. www.bbc.com/news/article...

I was on campus and ran into my roommate. We’d left for class together that a.m. but the bus took forever (maybe related?) and by the time we got to campus, we were so late we decided to skip it. We went our separate ways but crossed paths a bit later and she said someone flew a plane into the WTC.

I was on a GO bus from Shoppers World to Union Station, heading to my 11am university class. About the time we were on the Gardiner, I heard people getting calls and then sounded shocked. I figured something was up, but didn’t know yet.

INVESTIGATION: Canada’s National Observer has discovered a network of deceptive, AI-generated websites promoting Albertan separatism. The websites, rather than targeting human readers, are targeting chatbots — trying to influence the answers they provide.

A US-linked network of fake websites is promoting Alberta separatism to AI chatbots

The websites present crude, AI-generated slop disguised as the voice of real Albertans. But they're made in Florida — and they're not even targeting Albertans directly.

What in the fresh national security hell is this. This line makes me laugh/cry: "Government agencies would not have contracted his services or invited him on overseas trade missions if he was a threat, according to his court submissions." globalnews.ca/news/1204073...
