I think it's good and cool, actually, that Anders Folk is running to be the guy in charge of prosecuting ICE agents while taking money from the lawyer defending ICE agents.

I don’t consume everything that Racket puts out but what I do read is worth every penny I pay to them - I like that my money goes to cool people who love places and things that I love, and whose love is evident in everything that they put out. Congrats to Racket on (close to) 5 years!!
racket is five years old!!! i find that fact very hard to swallow and yet it’s true. here’s our fifth annual report to prove it. i feel very, very lucky that this is my job and my life!!!
The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.
I received a recent question about the closure of the bridge over Minnehaha Creek near the Minnesota Veterans Home, and so I'm sharing for broader awareness this statement from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs about this and the next steps. Please share if you see this topic come up:

This is a 1,600 bed facility, so it will instantly become one of ICE's largest facilities. It will also be one of (if not the actual) largest ICE jail/prison in the midwest.
🚨ICE has awarded CoreCivic $536.2 million to operate the Prairie Correction Facility in Appleton, Minnesota as an immigration jail. The period of performance begins August 11.

I’ll go a step further and say I believe this is the culture the cops cultivated and Her thought she could ingratiate herself to them with this behavior. But believing the force would ever be your friend is sufficiently disqualifying for a mayor on its own.
Unnamed sources are giving Mayor Her's side of the story. Police chief's sexual harassment complaint against the mayor was preceded by "multiple strong disagreements" over ICE response, the budget, and police accountability. kstp.com/kstp-news/to...
Homeowners insurance renewal just came in -- up 33% from last year. What kind of deductibles do y'all have?
I’ve read a lot of AI terms and they ALL have similar disclaimers. Why buy something the manufacturer won’t stand behind?!?
“The AI assistant, which Kinney Drugs named Burt, after its founder, was built by a third-party AI pharmaceutical company, Synerio. In the pharmacy’s terms, Kinney Drugs states that ‘Burt may not be accurate, complete or up-to-date and may be misleading or contain errors and omissions.’”
This is the last bipartisan consensus in America; basically everybody agrees that if you murder someone with your car it should be legal.
this guy (doomloop dispatch) literally killed a biker with his car… and he’s posting on twitter how it just made him even more anti-bike lane. The NIMBYs are not OK.
An interesting thread on the xAI litigation against MN
Yes. Sure. But this law goes way beyond that. Which is my issue with it. But it's fun how people feel as long as they yell CSAM (calling child porn is deeply frowned upon) they get to ignore the other speech it attacks.
I don’t think it’s appropriate to call out on the front page of The Minnesota Star Tribune that the police chief is a “St. Paul native” in relation to his complaint against the mayor, an immigrant.
Can’t we build the data center in Des Moines and ship the data in from there each day?
This MN law is maddening. The legislature knows perfectly well how to write the law to be constitutional: they did so before (see State v. Casillas, 952 N.W. 2d 629 (Minn. 2020)). But the bill's sponsor simply refused to do so here, and now MN taxpayers have to foot the bill to defend that choice.
I'm thinking of all the Washington State bar takers this morning. They all deserved so much better.
The point isn't to produce essays, it's to teach students how to think for fuck's sake. The minute you automate that, it's over. You might as well close the course. Which they're also doing. This is an attack on learning, and everyone is just shrugging.
Absolutely appalling. Look, it was not super fun to take the bar by hand 24 years ago, especially since I had to juice up on cortisone shots for my hand to keep working after carpal tunnel surgery, but at least there were no technology issues that could arise with my pen and paper.
"Dear Applicant, With deep regret, I write to inform you that Washington’s July 2026 administration of the NextGen bar exam has been cancelled. We will not continue tomorrow. . . . We do not have sufficient confidence that the technology issues have been resolved . . . . We sincerely apologize."
"A company with a thousand violative images could be fined up to $500 million. And a business whose users created a hundred thousand images...could owe an eye-popping $50 billion dollars." The statute, "burdens both xAI’s and its users’ right to free expression under the First Amendment."
An AMAZING bit in the complaint that SpaceX owned xAI filed is where they lament that the MN state law would result in really, really expensive fines for companies that don't stop enabling users to make AI deepfake porn basically. Here's a bite: xAI attorneys wrote...
