1. Thinking I have not read all of The Iliad but excepts and that I know what's in it 2. Realizing that what I've read IS ALL of The Iliad and that most of what I think is in it isn't. 3. Realizing that Iliad and Odyssey are just parts 2 and 7 of the Epic Cycle 4. And everything else is lost.

Still thinking about the utter betrayal during Blood on the Clocktower last Saturday. My D&D bestie really looked us in the face and deceived us all. I gotta remember there are no friends under the clocktower!! Such a good game
Le Guin on the idea that there is a secret to getting good at writing.
For some reason, all my algos except Tumblr think I care about the world cup
Changing my pants and a handful of coins fell to the floor and my husband looked at me and asked "why do you have analog money?"

Do people mad about the odyssey casting know about bible characters being cast as vegetables
the reason you hear about trans sports is because, after failing to create a culture war about bathrooms, GOP strategists all got together and figured out they could exploit the fact that every single adult spends an insane amount of money on their kid playing sports to attack trans people
L. Frank Baum really really loved using the word "meat" adjectivally and I have to bring this to your attention. Here is a meat thread of some of L Frank Baum's meat mentions: 🧵
Just rage singing the latest Paris Paloma song for no personal trauma reason whatsoever
The fact the actors in The Odyssey use American accents is actually kinda cool. If anything, I'm mad there are not MORE american accents. We have so many! USE THEM! I mean, seriously, how *else* were they gonna sound? British? Let's not pretend British wasn't the other option.
He's over ten years late, but my spouse has started to binge Stargate SG-1 and I've been having immense fun teasing him as he explains what episode he's on which consists of pretty much Spouse: [Describes thing happening to character] Me: Cool... which time? Spouse: MORE THAN ONCE??
My horror loving 11 year old is the reason I'm now a Digital Circus fan. Like. How the turn tables, I'm getting solid recs from my own kid

Yeah, my fifth grader kinda hates me, but we insist on the same thing. Cursive plus her spelling words for the week. It's wild to think this may end up being an employable skill
My kids' spelling improved when they started learning cursive but that's because learning cursive meant they actually had to practice writing words over and over again like a traditional spelling curriculum, and my kids' school had a nonsense ELA curriculum that didn't explicitly teach spelling.
Tbh, I'm MORE excited for the new season. I enjoyed season 4 with all the yearning and "my heart vs my duty" and season 5's setup is just that but MORE. I need this hot mess
Interesting that all these women who made Heated Rivalry a smash hit are now crashing out about the upcoming season of Bridgerton. Just interesting! Just interesting.

To everyone out there who defends and encourages reliance on generative AI: I want you to explain to me how software systems that do this is not just defensible but something good and to be encouraged. Go on. Explain it to me, right now. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...
I'd like to believe one day they'll run out of goal posts
C-SPAN: Would you consider the military taking over Kharg island boots on the ground? REP. HARIDOPOLOS: I think people would see that as an occupation of a vital economic interest. As a history teacher, I consider boots on the ground occupying an entire country like we did after WW2 in Japan
I accidentally put on my eldest's bra because the style is so much like my own I didn't realize and now I'm in physical pain I knew we'd end up getting each other's clothes eventually but fuck this is a special hell
