in the dealership waiting area while my car is being serviced. how many packets of complimentary fruit snacks do you think I can take before someone says something
been reading a lot of Georgette Heyer lately, and so experiencing some whiplash between the sentiments “I’m so charmed, perhaps Heyer is the best to ever do it” and “these people should all be torn from their great houses, and their assets seized by the common laborers upon whose backs they tread”
I used the power of the One Ring. I recognize that it's evil, and I expect a lot of people to be mad at me for using it. Sorry! However, I plan to continue using it. Here's why: (1/62)
My garage has found a new solution to the problem of an appropriate gender-neutral salutation that works for all customers. It's 'Legend'. All communications start "Hello, you absolute legend." I mean, it's no less or more sincere than 'valued customer'.
Neuromancer is chillingly relevant today because it asks: what if a guy would rather Die than stop Going Online
(contingent on additional paperwork/background check and such) HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO ME
anyway all I actually want for my upcoming birthday is a job, in case you have one of those available
I should be allowed to astrally project to the grocery store instead of going in person.
It's simple: every game that has mechanics crunchier than I like was designed by and for unimaginative babies and any game where I have to interpret results more than I like was created by and for pretentious non-designers.
I don't believe in manifesting, but I wish I *did* believe in manifesting, because just wanting things, regular-style, with no belief that my internal states can impact the universe, is kind of a drag
I wrote about the Prairieland defendants and the urgency of opposing the extreme sentences handed down on Tuesday. And they likely will not be the last.

having a friend who is 25-50% a hater is the absolute best. but if someone is like 75% a hater its the most depressing thing in the world (still not as bad as a friend who is less than 5% a hater)
[twirling my hair around my mechadendrite] so, uh… is there a Vivisectrix Martinax, or…?

the kestrel was back at the bird feeder again this morning, which I suppose indicates that the bird feeder is feeding it, too, after a fashion.

despite my intellectual disbelief in any form for divination, in my heart I have accidentally reinvented augury from first principles. this morning I saw orioles & goldfinches *&* a spider (I also believe spiders are my friends, this is a bird+spider-based system of augury). the omens are good today

there is no folly of the beasts of the earth which is not infinitely outdone by the madness of men
it is in some small way a comfort to hear other people talk about how soul-crushing job hunting is, because under such circumstances my first assumption tends to be that I have a particularly weak and friable soul.
