This has happened before. This will happen again. But even dumber.

If and when Dems are able to take back power, I cannot tell you how much any question about the debt or deficit needs to be met with loud mockery and extreme derision. Just an aggressive, ‘Oh NOW you care about the debt? GTFOH.’ Over and over and over again.

Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress are accountable 10% of America’s $40 TRILLION DEBT since gaining power in January 2025. Republicans don’t care about the national debt as long it benefits CEOs and billionaires.

Ok it is obvious that people fake engagement with bots, and that this is often done for political reasons, but the reality is that there are tens of millions of republicans in america, the number of people who would vote for Trump is even larger, and as elections show, these people really exist

God damn, it's bad. They finally made a bad Evil Dead movie. I was hoping Burn would be good and expected it to be okay, but it's just bad. The practical effects are great, but the CGI is ugly as sin. The cinematography is often solid, but half the time seems to only be based on looking cool.

rainbow capitalism is important not as a statement of any corporation’s values (for that, look where they donate money and talk to LGBTQ employees!), but because they have access to consumer data we don’t have and they’re conservative by nature. a pendulum swing right now is useful data

Yes, of course McDonald’s posting about National Coming Out Day is “performative.” Nobody thinks Ronald McDonald threw the first brick at Stonewall. Nonetheless, the biggest and most influential institutions in American life performing affirmation of LGBT social and civil equality is a good thing.

Not only no culture, but no *commons*. The dependency on the capitalist overlords will be complete, because you can’t ask for help or context from others when there is no common frame of reference. This has already happened in coding, the first space where they destroyed the commons we’d all built.

this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted

Okay. Let's go over the stupid: "I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE BUBBLE TO POP SO I CAN BUY ALL THOSE GPUS REAL CHEAP." Those "GPUs" only barely qualify as such. Many of them don't even have a video output, or can't be used outside specialized servers. They're no good to anyone. They're future e-waste.

So much of modern politics is manufactured from whole cloth. Algorithms instruct you on what matters to you, and the death spiral of labor exhausts you further into relying on the noise. Democratizing labor must go hand in hand with and democratizing tech.

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

I'm convinced Newsom isn't running for President at all. Sure, he might have a committee and use it as a slush fund, but he's running to be appointed to corporate boards and fake think tanks and stuff. Just too many examples of him going out of his way to show he's not aligned with the Dem base.

Gavin Newsom backs measure to kill the billionaire tax and ban future wealth taxes Gov. Gavin Newsom isn't just fighting the billionaire tax. He's backing Prop. 42, which would ban future wealth taxes in California, too.

Do not watch the public execution. You will not be okay watching someone kill a person. That experience will bury itself in your nervous system and change you forever. You cannot prepare yourself for it. Do not choose to traumatize yourself with bloody murder.

This IS what this country is. It's not the only thing that it is but it is absolutely violent and barbaric. The US. is one of 55 countries that still maintain capital punishment. 140 countries have abolished it. This IS what this country is. Might as well televise the killings.

The deployment of National Guard troops into cities has been so normalized that it barely merits a mention in the press or among the public anymore. D.C. remains occupied, Memphis is occupied, so is New Orleans... It's incredible to me.

I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.

Sometimes I wonder if I could have eventually successfully made it as a TV writer if I'd picked myself back up, put myself back together, and tried again just that one more time, and I think at this point the answer has to be: no, I'd only be going a different kind of crazy.

with each passing day it feels more surreal to be an independent journalist. like playing with a toy train while vanderbilt owns the railways.
