A trio of Senate Republicans from Indiana, Oklahoma, & Alabama have introduced S 4925 a copy of HR 7661- the exact same text, which would ban any book mentioning "gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. Please call your Senators to say NO to both bills! More info below

my five year old niece was here for two days with four adults to hang out with and i have not been this exhausted in years i absolutely do not know how anyone does it like i am going to sleep for a week but my sister just went home with this kid plus her entire other kid that’s too much!

These emails are so funny. “Because it is not just one book. It is Solomon Brager growing up with the story of their great grandparents' escape from Nazi Germany, the myth of a boxing champion great grandfather thrashing Joseph Goebbels and carrying his family over the Pyrenees.”

Dozens of people waiting on the platform when a conductor from a train on another line shouts “there’s no trains” no announcement no train time update no transfer tickets just an MTA employee upstairs shrugging and saying “go to a different station.” The @mta.info is like a sick social experiment.

I don’t think it’s a perfect approach but for Heavyweight I opted to have a list of endnotes in the back that reference the page and panel without inserting numbers into panels. If the book was physically larger I might have opted for footnotes on the page but they would have been minuscule.

The citations and notes section at the back of Heavyweight.

I teach a course called Graphic History where one of the things we talk about is how cartoonists use sources in published work and also how to do research for comics, perhaps these conversations and skill sets would be helpful to some in the comics world.
