Somil Trivedi: That we can only provide affordability in healthcare, or we can hold the wrongdoers accountable who stole your affordability and your healthcare. We absolutely better be able to do both.

The day before his release is too early to sue, and the day after—when he flees—it’ll be too late. Oh the majesty of the law. Time to add “just flee to Texas” to “sign up for ICE” and “bribe Trump for a pardon” on the growing list of ways to get away with crimes, now.

Either we can do round 978 of “defund was a bad slogan and HR trainings were annoying” OR we can take that era’s best ideas —accountability for sexual predators & law enforcement violence — and apply them today…to the sexual predator unleashing law enforcement violence on the country. How bout that?

Every story in America today--the slush fund, Esptein, ICE murders, all of it--is about the total lack of accountability for the rich and powerful. Voters are pissed off and checking out. But if we can finally fix it, we unlock everything else. I wrote about how, for @thehill.com. bit.ly/45hkdbJ

America needs an accountability agenda

Advocacy leader Somil Trivedi argues that the pro-democracy movement must pursue comprehensive accountability through criminal prosecutions, state-level legislative reform, and enhanced congression…

If you're hearing spin that the meeting was "productive" and/or these women are just political operatives, remember: they were under oath yesterday and praised Josh Hawley--Josh Hawley--for his conduct in their private meeting with him. They are honest brokers. Blanche is not. #BlockBlanche

NEWS: Epstein survivors just gave Todd Blanche a failing grade after their meeting. "Condescending." "Gaslighting." No plan to go after anyone beyond Epstein and Maxwell. And Sen. Tillis's reaction? Somehow worse.

Justice Barrett would laugh at and rule against anyone who just flat refused to answer a question from her at oral argument. Yet she gets to do this when the robe’s on the other foot. Doesn’t sound like equal branches to me.

Amy Coney Barrett just told Congress that it would be inappropriate to explain the reasoning behind the Court’s unreasoned shadow docket orders. As if unreasoned judicial orders are a thing. They are not. The reasoning is the whole point.

We can have a world where families get to haul ICE killers into court, take their money & badges, and get closure. We can have a world with real accountability. But we need news laws & a new Supreme Court, which took all of it away from us in the first place. Let's demand it back.

Don’t believe the lie that the Roberts Court is killing independent agencies to make government “more democratically accountable.” They’ve gutted voting rights, made it impossible to sue rogue officials, defied congressional oversight & refused an enforceable ethics code. They *hate* accountability.

I’m glad the Roberts Court didn’t blow up the Fed today, but it was a policy decision to help Trump and their rich friends, who like the Fed but don’t like other regulators. No other straight faced way to justify the two outcomes.
