In case you didn't know, Mike Miles started his charter schools called Third Future in Colorado. He then expanded the charters in Texas, was hired and fired from super of Dallas ISD, then hired by the state as the super of HISD. He is speaking at ed conferences and reformers are lapping it up 😭

It is prescriptive, lockstep, terribly paced, ai written (also), and 100% screen based. Its trash.

I dont really understand why these books are particularly difficult for him. He understands the difference between fiction and fact, he understands that metaphor and imagery are comparisons/descriptions and not reality, but with these books--maybe because of the diary format?--it all breaks down
I think they would likely effect my youngest to a much lesser degree (shes less of a chameleon), but older is a mimic and, frankly, has a ton of trouble separating himself from the text, and understanding that the text is not an accurate representation of a modern middle school experience.
Ive said it before but ill say it again. I fucking hate the "Diary of a Whimpy Kid" books. Greg is unrepentant asshole, who doesnt like this family and whose family doesnt really like him, and frankly the entire world seems fucking misanthropic. At least for my sensitive kid, they are toxic
