As part of my work on sound heritage, I'm running a short survey on sounds (not music) that are important personally/culturally to people from different parts of the world. Please do help if you can 🙏 (versions in other languages will be added soon) tinyurl.com/5579y76e

I've been a busy beaver this week. I built a card deck that generates prompts for sound design. Then I drew rounds and made whatever came up. 7 artifacts so far, all slightly wrong! PLEASE use the game and post your outputs! I'll reply to this with some examples. sounddr.ca/ears-deck.html

Public sound toys in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands! I had to have a little time to play...
Enjoying a long weekend in the Faroe Islands after the Design Research Society conference in Edinburgh. Danish design always makes my heart soar! Design is so underestimated. It lifts my spirits so much to be surrounded by such beautiful design.
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it 🙏 The survey is open to everyone. Thanks!

I'm looking forward to this book! I remember playing with Eliza when I was a kid, on the old 5150. It piqued my interest in AI even back then. Like trying to "break" Sierra games by typing "naughty" words, playing with AI was such fun then.
Thanks to Nick Montfort for his support on this project, including hosting us at MIT and his own writing about ELIZA! Inventing ELIZA stands in great company beside 10 PRINT, Output, and Racing the Beam. @docmofo.bsky.social #computerhistory #platformstudies
Still banging my head on the wall of convincing my department that sound is not an afterthought and elective in a digital media program, but should be part of core courses. I can't believe we're STILL HERE after 25 years of this battle.
