Liam Davis Temple@liam2manynames.bsky.social · 8mo agoFrom what I saw today firsthand it was the sheriffs today constantly escalating at people protesting peacefully. The sheriffs were masked up like ICE while working hard to agitate and provoke the residents they were sworn to protect, all so they could provide security for ICE who murders people.

Trump’s line is that disrespect to law enforcement is punishable by death. Impeach and remove. This is not tolerable.

I think we won’t really free up the space to imagine a way out of American fascism until people grasp this: most of what the “opposition party” has to offer them is their preferred actors for state violence
This tracks with my experience. DHS made up stories like this in Chicago, too. Every story ICE told about being attacked by community members was debunked in court. To assume anything they say is even potentially credible is irresponsible and out of touch with reality.

Note: I received lots of evidence and didn't see any rocks, the only pepper spray I saw was ICE agents sometimes spraying each other. I did see snow and possibly ice being thrown. (1)

Since people are remembering the tea party: a critical part to remember is that much like the open up campaigns of 2020, it started as an astroturf campaign by billionaires like the Koch brothers. When I say the media has a deference to money and power I mean it.
I don't want to hear a hot take on the news of the day from my Rep or Senator. I want to hear some big picture analysis of whether/how today's news fits in with the authoritarian project and then what that elected intends to DO to meaningfully oppose it.
So hey: The First Amendment does not apply to private companies. Pass it on. Seriously, apparently we need to pass it on. It is not a “free speech violation” for a social media platform like X or a newsletter app like Substack to disallow hate speech. IT SIMPLY ISN’T.

Lots of chants demanding to know why they are protecting Nazis. No one is letting CPD off the hook. This is what cops do - enable and participate in fascism. #Teslatakedown.
