The bias of Dirge being a Oathbreaker/Shadow Sorcerer & his origins (iykyk) makes the book slap so much harder for me, but also I get so much insight into Astarion's likes/dislikes around Dirge by drawing parallels from the behaviours of people in his life. It's fun.

Continuing this line of thought, with how Sceleritas, knowing how DU feels in regards to Astarion, is affirming the urge with his language around being believable. "He will never believe that." Being believed is so important to DU, but so is the need to believe in others.

I will never get over the self-hatred of the DU. I can't think of a character that thinks as poorly of themselves as DU does. "She doesn't believe you..." internal screaming I think for Dirge, meeting Isobel just affirms his belief that no one can understand him and no one is coming to save him.
