Congrats to Massachusetts on their win over Rutgers. In 2025 UMass was - by far - the lowest productive FBS team overall (#136 ranked). In 2025 UMass was the #136 ranked offense and the #135 ranked defense. A positive beginning for the Minutemen in 2026.
The two-team sports league predicts that when a league imposes a payroll cap that the equilibrium level of winning is greater than the total number of wins (i.e. a disequilibrium result). Thus, teams facing a payroll cap (i.e. NBA) have a profit maximizing incentive to circumvent the cap.
